We hold the power in this draft moreso if we get Band 1.

All of the rat scheming currently going on at the Eagles, Melbourne and Hawthorn to either get or exploit the first pick, gets absolutely nowhere without our say so.

We should remember that when they come to us with their shiny gold teeth after the absolute contempt we've been held in for the last few years - media included.

Unless they handover the world, let's take 2 and 3 to the draft - get two of the best kids in the country and spoil their evil rotten plans.

I can see their faces now.

You've got North playing Santa well before Xmas and Gold Coast making out like bandits in this deal. Gold Coast would receive a 71% draft points premium to let go of a pick they don't want to hang on to. That would be mind-blowingly dumb, particularly as we can also offer them the points benefit of not bidding on their Academy players. North doesn't have to throw the kitchen sink at trading up the order in the draft. We shouldn't throw all our eggs in one basket and also need to explore Geelong's pick #7/8 and potentially also WB's pick #10/11 if it is traded to the Suns.

The way I understand it is that we won't find out anything until Monday at the earliest. * will submit their offer & we will be told 24 hrs after that as the AFL take time to mix the secret herbs & spices. (Not sure if it's 24hrs from the offer or business hrs).

Clubs are told at the time it is lodged.

I could do it quicker with 2008 era excel. Would even throw in some pivot tables for the media.

Nah.

Twoomey stated on his podcast, clubs are allowed to submit the contract offer to the AFL to check what the compo is prior to formal lodgment.

Would be the greatest own goal in history if Essendon lodged a Band 2 contract.

With McKay exit announced tomorrow, why aren’t we linked to any key defenders?

If comben is moving back, why aren’t we going all in for key forwards?

Puzzling list management. All for adding run and carry however we have the worst talls in the comp by a distance and that is with Logue Healthy, which he is not.
Maybe the vision we have for the future of footy doesn't include heaps of talls and the only ones we'll chase are insanely mobile.

On brand for Essendon would be to lodge a contract, find out that it triggers Band 1, withdraw that contract and re-submit a new contract for $20,000 less per season. Rinse and repeat until their offer is Band 2.
