How does this look?

North out 2, 3 and 14
North in 1, 6 and Haynes and (plus salary)

GWS
Out 6 and Flynn
in 14 and 34

WC
out 1 and 34
in 2, 3 and Flynn

Personally, I think we just forget about 1 and try and get another pick inside 10 to go with 2, 3 and then take it to the draft.
l'm not sure if you have read this: Your thoughts?

Maybe trade off 2024 #19 to GWS for pick 7 plus Haynes salary dump,

Then pick#14 and 2023 pick#19 for Gold Coast for pick#5..

Then offer a F2 plus 2024 #19 to Geelong for their #8.

Finishing with 2,3,5,7,8...;) and #40

Then dont do anything else and use these picks. Let West Coast decide who they pick and then we take the rest..

I was always of the belief that the clubs offering were told just before

l dont think so..They get 1 shot and then if North match it , it becomes a trade issue and if no result can be reached, Ben goes into the draft for all and sundry to get at the price he agreed to from Essendon...including us ...

Someone correct me if this is wrong..

The battered and cynical north supporter in me thinks that the AFL don't want us getting band 1 compo for Bmac.
It seems like standard practices have changed this year for FA's.

Why?... because North cannot have nice things.

Bonar no, Turner yes. Unless we can bring in 2x KP types then can move on Bonar.
I just cannot ****ing grasp this logic. We can bring in literally any KP type that's going to be a better KP player than Bonar, who has shown absolutely 0 ability to play on key forwards in his entire career, no matter how many times he's tried there. We could bring Josh Walker out of retirement. Or even Robbie Tarrant.

I reckon there has to be some nursing on the lead in... the week before the Daniher free agency the media was abuzz with whether the deal would get them over the line for band 1 and then we saw that weird three year deal that was later extended.

I don't know whether it's comforting or not the media lead in to tomorrow has been pretty accepting the deal is sufficient but I have to imagine some guidance has been offered.

Nothing's changed. You are imagining things. The AFL just gave us priority picks that the rest of the clubs are up in arms about. We will get Band 1 compensation for McKay if the contract meets the requirements.

Got the day off so been listening to a fair bit of a trade radio today. * it's brutal with all the advertising. Too much, I'll just get all my updates from this thread from now on.

Did somebody say KFC?

Well somebody has to say it...
If only there was a way we could develop a stronger and more reliable Bonar in the future.

(I'm so bored at work atm)

Thats in conflict to what Twoomey has stated.
Changed his mind.. again

"The rules under Restricted Free agency are that you can't change the restricted financials of one of these Free Agents, unrestricted is different, but because clubs have the right to match it, you can't then move the money around in different ways."

- Cal Twomey on not being able to change the contracts of Restricted Free Agents once they sign on.

Personally, I think we just forget about 1 and try and get another pick inside 10 to go with 2, 3 and then take it to the draft.

So let me break this down

We are trading picks 2 and 14 for pick 1

Then we are trading pick 3 for pick 6 plus we are paying Haynes salary? That's not how this sort of deal works...

Someone would rightly get fired for that.

We hold the power in this draft moreso if we get Band 1.

All of the rat scheming currently going on at the Eagles, Melbourne and Hawthorn to either get or exploit the first pick, gets absolutely nowhere without our say so.

We should remember that when they come to us with their shiny gold teeth after the absolute contempt we've been held in for the last few years - media included.

Unless they handover the world, let's take 2 and 3 to the draft - get two of the best kids in the country and spoil their evil rotten plans.

I can see their faces now.
Yep, if you're the Eagles too risky to trade too far down especially after bids for academy players, we are the gatekeepers, ferry man, fat conductor, troll living under the bridge, judge, jury and executioner too of this draft order.

Nah.

Twoomey stated on his podcast, clubs are allowed to submit the contract offer to the AFL to check what the compo is prior to formal lodgment.

Would be the greatest own goal in history if Essendon lodged a Band 2 contract.

I think we can ask for an indication of band AFTER a contract has been lodged with the AFL, so we can find out if it is band 1 or 2 before we decide to match... but Essendon can't keep asking the band and incrementally increase contracts until they hit band 1.

If they hated us, they wouldn't have given us the picks they did. I think the main reason they didn't give us anything earlier is because we were getting band 1 for McKay and they don't want to give too much very early talent. The concern would be the new CBA and how that impacts where band 1 lays.
