wouldnt go near darling after that tent incident
Can you please elaborate on the 'tent incident'?

Did Darling go to Ray's Tent City to see what they've got and suggest to Ray that it's not really a 'city' but more like a satellite town, a smaller municipality that's part of a larger metropolitan area, and offend Ray who subsequently banned Darling for life?

I’ve been saying this will be the deal for a while now.

If we wanted we could turn 15 and 21 into GC 11.
Gives WC either 2 and 11 or they just go with 1, 15 and 21.

I’ve also been saying make no mistake WC want to trade 1 and will trade 1. Just hope we are prepared to walk away and go to the draft if it gets silly.
That’s the only way we lose. We keep everything or we exchange for something reasonable.

Maybe like when Tony Grieg roomed with Imran Khan and Imrans bed went up like one of those huge Pakistani marquees!

AFL Trades 2023: Pick 1 chase hots up as Ben McKay compensation pick confirmed

A compensation pick for losing Ben McKay to Essendon has armed the Kangaroos to make a bumper offer to West Coast for pick 1. Will it be enough?

Eagles still unsure of trading No.1 pick?

AFL: The Eagles are insisting they are still likely to retain the number one pick in this year's draft despite consistent rumours they will trade the pick to North Melbourne.

West Coast wants to take Tongala prodigy Harley Reid with the first pick in the national draft unless North Melbourne is prepared to swap picks 2 and 3.
The Eagles have settled on Reid as their clear top target and were left impressed by his interview at the draft combine last week, with some likening his presence to Hawthorn champion Luke Hodge.
North Melbourne received pick 3 as free agency compensation for the departure of full-back Ben McKay to Essendon on Tuesday, giving the Roos a huge arsenal of draft picks, including 2, 3, 15 and 21 to strike a deal with West Coast.
But any hopes the Roos had of securing pick 1 have taken a hit as the Eagles look unlikely to cough it up unless North hands over picks 2 and 3 in return, setting a high bar for one of the biggest trades of the post-season.
That asking price could be too steep for the Kangaroos, who are believed to be looking at line-breaking left-footer Colby McKercher at pick 2 and dangerous goalkicking midfielder Zane Duursma at pick 3, according to recruiters.
It means Hawthorn could snare speedy small forward Nick Watson at pick 4, the Western Bulldogs snap up jet midfielder Ryley Sanders at pick 5, and Melbourne could look at forward Nate Caddy or key defender Daniel Curtin at pick 6.
There is a belief Western Australian Curtin could be sliding down clubs’ draft orders, meaning the Giants face the prospect of landing Curtin if he falls as far as pick 7.

Another option is for North Melbourne to acquire pick 11 in a trade with Gold Coast and offer West Coast picks 2, 11 and a future first-round pick for pick 1, but that still may not be enough to satisfy the Eagles.
Recruiting sources on Tuesday said it seemed likely West Coast would keep pick 1 rather than trade it out, unless North parted with picks 2 and 3 in one of the biggest pick swaps in AFL trade history.

The Kangaroos have four picks inside the top 21 selections to help strike a deal with West Coast after the free agency compensation for McKay went through as expected on Tuesday morning.
The Roos also have three future picks (from next year) to deal out as part of the AFL’s draft assistance package.
North did not match Essendon’s offer to McKay, which is believed to be less than $800,000 a year. The compensation selection is a reward for the way the Roos have handled McKay’s situation this year, delaying on offering the defender a new deal.

Pick 3 as free agency compensation is a massive boost for North Melbourne, which could have one of the most talented lists in the competition in a few years following several drafts loading up on high-end talent.
However, clubs are certain North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson would love Reid, who is a powerful goalkicker and dominant forward-half ball-winner in the same mould as Dustin Martin.
The Eagles want to take Reid in the belief he is a generational talent and someone they could not pass up after two years down the bottom of the ladder.
Reid told the Eagles he would have no problems moving interstate to play AFL.
North Melbourne already has a stack of first-round players in the engine room including brilliant ballwinners Harry Sheezel, who won a best and fairest in his first year, hard nut George Wardlaw, Luke Davies-Uniacke, pick three Will Phillips, slick prime mover Tarryn Thomas and goal kicker Jaidyn Stephenson.
Plus there are high hopes for knee victim Brayden George, who the Roos took at pick 26 last year.
Pretty sure this Jay Clark pretender is a massive *scum fan.

Publicly pushing the narrative that we MUST give up 2&3 to get Harley is his way of throwing a spanner in the works after we reamed his drug infected mob for pick 3.

If we really wanted a spanner thrown in the works Jay we would've just tossed you in...

SAINT SET FOR NEW DEAL

ST KILDA midfielder Hunter Clark is expected to stay at the Saints on a two-year deal despite remaining unsigned in the Trade Period.

Clark has been offered a deal through to the end of 2025, with the view he is heading towards re-signing at the Saints.

The 24-year-old played 19 games for the Saints this season under coach Ross Lyon after having interest from North Melbourne in last year's Trade Period.

Another two years would take Clark through to free agency, having been a top-10 pick at the 2017 draft. The courageous midfielder has played 87 games across his career.

NORTH'S DRAFT DECISION

NORTH Melbourne will now decide its next move in its bid for Harley Reid and the No.1 pick this year after its Ben McKay compensation selection was officially awarded at No.3 on Tuesday.

The long-held view that McKay would bring in No.3 pick for the Roos was confirmed with his move to Essendon, which leaves the Kangaroos with selections 2, 3, 15 and 21 this year as well as their own first-round pick next year and two end-of-first round picks in 2024.

The Roos are battling Adelaide and Melbourne for Gold Coast's pick 11, which could see them in a strong position to make a play for the Eagles' top choice.

West Coast will put a high price on shifting back down the order, with Reid being hunted by North and Hawthorn. Inside Trading reported last week the Roos had made a target of the top choice.

But should the Eagles hold at No.1 and take Reid, the Roos will have two top-four picks for the second consecutive year, with the club linked to Tasmanian midfielder Colby McKercher and Gippsland star Zane Duursma, with the Hawks having also been linked to Duursma and small forward Nick Watson.

Watson and gun midfielder Ryley Sanders are likely to come under consideration for the Western Bulldogs' top selection, while Melbourne next could have Daniel Curtin and forward Nate Caddy in the mix. Tall defender Connor O'Sullivan is expected to be in the next group and could be an option for Greater Western Sydney with its top-10 pick. – Callum Twomey

How long before, "chuck in Liam Anthony and a 3rd rounder" ?

Look how much pick 4 attracted in a trade. Imagine the worth of pick 2 in a trade up for 1 based on that.

Also, see below for one of the biggest trade ever for 1 player. This was a PROVEN generational talent and is in the best 5 players in the league.

2 and 14 for an UNPROVEN generational prospect is way more than the Jezza trade.

Let alone 2, 11 and 19. This is a ridiculous price that will almost certainly never be matched again.

Pick 2 and 3 for 1 would be internal sabotage and there would be an investigation.

It’s no different to taking JHF over Sheezel and Wardlaw. It’s Sheezel and Wardlaw everyday of the week.

The number 1 pick is so overrated it’s not funny. It’s one player. Reid would want to be the next Wayne Carey to give up the rights to the next Shannon Grant plus Anthony Stevens.
Thats with the benefit of hindsight mate!!
Just remember last year we were wanting to keep pick #1 and get a Duursma/Butters/Bergmann+Ports 1st rounder for JHF before GWS wanted Cadman at #1 and the ball started rolling from there?

All year, majority of this board was on the Tsatas train with the Wardlaw train slighly derailed due to hammy problems?
I just read that Hawthorn only got 19 for Buddy? That's piss funny if true and I'm loving the melts with us getting 3 for Ben
Well they did finish premier's that year and the AFL applied the same herbs and spices to come up with the compo

It’s also Jay Clarke, so I won’t believe anything he says until someone else says it. campaigner is notorious for making s**t up however if I was WC I’d be asking for 2 and 3 as well. It’s actually not hard a thing to guess at
Agree, you would stupid if you didn't started off with a high ball offer like 'Hey, how about #2 & #3 for #1, Brady?' and then we try and low ball with "Nah, what about #15 and #20 and we promise not to take Curtin, Rohan?'

We now have access to 2 of our top 5 available preferred draftees this year
3 of the top 15 this year (includes above) and
1 of top 6 next year (barring miracles)

IMO any pick trades we do (using all available picks PP etc) shouldn't worsen that hand, and preferably improve this scenario.

Our next premiership will be built around the 2022, 2023 2024 draft.

It's funny how the media works these things. Clark comes out with "West Coast will ask for 2 & 3 for Reid" based on personal opinion. Then on SEN Maher and Gaze have been talking about it based on Clark reporting "West Coast have told North Melbourne 2 & 3" so they go on for twenty minutes (with callers coming in saying stuff like "I reckon West Coast are bluffing and will draft Curtin at 1") and determine North won't do the trade but West Coast are worried about go-home factor. How does it end?

Gaze realises North could offer 2 and 15. Maher? "That's tasty!".

And another day goes by where nothing has changed and nothing has been done.

Listening to those two imbeciles was stupefying
