My understanding is we won’t be trying to split our pick 4.
If anything we will be trying to trade our f1 for a pick this year and aim to have pick 4 + another top 10 pick.

Or, still trying to lock in pick 1 by trading the above (which is looking unlikely).
Yeah we are big on another pick in this draft. It will be on draft night like last year I reckon a target that is still available that we think should have gone earlier.

I wouldn't have paid 25c for Carlton Draught if it was an option at the time.

I'm a craft beer drinker and I regularly pay $15+ for a single beer. In this instance, $15 each for Kaiju Krush pale ale and a rose' cider was way too much.

I use to be and then over Covid I craved a cold pot of Draught from the keg?
I have not gone back and I have put on a few kilos since Covid aswell!

Its no burden we have list of players ordered from 1 - X. If any one of those players that we rank say top 12 or marked as to get is still available at say pick 16 or so on we try and buy into the draft. Its exactly how it worked last year

A bit of a dream scenario, but would anyone else be on board with trading pick 5 and our future first if it landed us McKercher and another top 10-15 pick this year?
If you look at the players we have in our midfield and the players getting squeezed out of it too, I'm not taking McKercher. I hope we don't have to choose whether to pick him or not at 5. Let North take him and he can walk to Tassie after a bit if he wants. No big deal.

We won't do trades earlier but hope we have talked to teams in advance so when it is our turn and if we feel like we can land our player target at 6 and Demons want our pick 4.

then a 3 way deal with Cats is what I would propose.

Demons 4 <-> 6+11
Cats 11 + Hawks F1 <-> 8 + Cats F1
Hawks 6 + 8 + Cats F1 <-> 4 + Hawks F1

Not sure how keen demons are to move 2 spots up. All depends on who North pick at 2 & 3. Have heard variations of McK & Duur to Durr + Wiz or even McK + Curtin

Do you have any ideas on how we can buy in. Not sure we would want to give up our F1 at that stage, only a swap of F1's makes sense.

Who would trade their top 10 pick this year for our F1?

I don't see anyone in the top 7 doing it. And then we know how Geelong & Essendon like to operate. They don't have any other picks until Pick 25 or after, so I doubt they'd give up Pick 8 or 9.

The next best is Adelaide's Pick 10? Which will likely be Pick 11 or 12.

Is trading our F1 for Pick 11 worth it?

Another weddle? For the right player, always

God no!

I wouldnt be a fan of trading a F1 at all, unless its to trade up to get Harley. I dont think we are in a position to take a punt with a F1 otherwise. We are only a Sicily/Lewis injury away from a repeat of this year.

You must of missed the many many many posts on how we won’t trade down

I’m starting to think we should take the best KPD’s we can get. (If we can’t trade for Reid then) Curtin/O’Sullivan and McCabe + best tall defender available and our 3rd pick (and rookie Dear). If we can’t get a decent KPD then KPF at our 3rd pick.

We’re pretty loaded with mids (and forwards with recent trades). We’re pretty desperate to get a A grade KPD. Let’s see if we can find one in this draft. If one (or more) make it we’re well on the way to another premiership list.

Edit: So Demons 6 + 11 for our 1st would get us 3 top 20 KPDs (inc McCabe) plus Dear. Thoughts?

Maybe. Or perhaps we haven’t gone to the draft hard enough yet in terms of volume and we should be open to ways to improve our draft hand this year and next.
So far we have 5 top 30 picks in the last 2 years. 2 pick 7s and 26 (natural ladder position) a r2 upgrade (27-18 for weddle) and an extra r2 (butler). It’s marginally ahead on volume against the natural draft but looks good in quality (we all know they can pick well).
My concern is simply volume of high end talent coming in. Around us looking at sides missing finals
the eagles get Reid, north have 5 first rounders this year alone on top of 9 in the last 3 years, suns get 4 top 30 academy, freo have 3 future firsts, crows have 2 firsts and an early second, dons add free agents and keep picks, dogs have same draft as us coming up (top 5 plus FS first round). I get the draft isn’t the only tool but in rebuild it’s the primary tool and the comparison to those around us concerns me and I don’t want to end up mid table for a decade as most rebuilding clubs have done.

Serves you right. It speaks volumes about the quality of your character. I mean that with as much offence as possible.

Trading into the draft is ok but going to be very hard to do when our F2 is now linked to Collingwood and worth very little. While our F1 has a lot more value than trading in for a pick after 12. Even then I’d want extra if we are going to do that.
