Does Harley have a problem with his tank? He seems to always be managed through a game. He is the number 1 pick but for where we r we want multiple players with high end talent not just 1. No matter what, teams win games, finals and grand finals. That is why there have been many generational talents that have never won a grandfinal. We need to build a grand final team. Ablett, Lockett the list is long and they are all time greats Harley would be doing well to emulate them.

I agree, it is his biggest ?

How were Hodge and Dustys tanks at u18 level?

Ok, if we're adding speculation in to justify our calls...

Who's to say Harley won't do two ACLs?

Who's to say Brockman won't be our next Breust? (He's already looking every inch a first round player)

Who's to say DGB won't follow the same path as other KPDs, and thrive after 5 years?

Three possible 10 year players for one player, in a game with 22 on the field, is NOT worth ito me, or, thankfully, anyone at the club.
He, He,
If we had a crystal ball we'd all be perfect list managers.

As I said IF the club thinks Harley is a rare transformational talent, just like they did with Hodge, I hope they will target him and pay overs if necessary.

But you know they don't so I guess you could tell us who we will draft and end this thread for all of us who enjoy spitballing ludicrous ideas in our spare time.

You make a fair point, I need to stay out of this thread, and let people do their thing

GWS will offer 3 first rounders and West Coast will more than likely take that

Harley also good friends with GWS players, happy to move there.
I doubt GWS will even offer just 2( 5 & 7). The best deal will 1& 19 for 5 & 7 and then they try and offload 6/7 to say teh demons for 2 picks likely to be btw 10-18.

Reid's stiff arming tactic may not work that well against AFL bodies + have doubt on his tank. So most AFL clubs won't overpay.

The giants last year gave up picks 3 + 12 and a future 2nd to move up for Cadman who wasn't viewed as a generational player.

They'll definitely be giving up their two top 10s if they are to get Harley at a minimum.

Its all just sh!ts a gigs at this point. For we the dreamers of dreams.

Go Hawks.

If GWS do that trade for the number 1 pick, does that make it very unlikely we'd get an extra first rounder this year? They seem the most likely with the extra first round pick and the need to do a salary dump/trade for cap space, so if they do trade for pick 1 not sure how else we'd make a play to get back in the first round given Gold Coast also want more picks not less.

They don't need a Reid.. They needed a Cadman and he wanted to come to Giants.

3+12+ F2 is less than 5 & 6/7. People can keep dreaming but Giants will get 2 good players at 5 & 7

Two first round picks (if we can somehow manage it) is a lot more enticing than just getting Harley and losing Brock/Denver! Caddy, Watson and mc3 will all be there for the taking somewhere in the draft order .
Our midfield is coming along just fine, remembering that we still haven't seen anywhere near the best of Ward, McDonald or McKenzie.

Every club needs Reid.

The bigger concern is that Curtin is gone by 5, for WCE.

We need to make noise that we'd take him at 3.

Let the games begin.

GWS needs Curtin + McKercher over just Reid, almost every club would prefer that.

Curtin is slated to 5-10, yeah we should make some noise to spook Eagles.

I can all but promise you that the next 6+ Premiership Teams will win it without Reid.
Further, statistically, I can almost* promise you that the club drafting Reid will not win a flag with him.

No club 'needs' him, but I agree that 18 would want him.

My point is that he doesn't guarantee success (which you obviously know).

*Eagles slightly different to conventional stats on account of their Home Ground / Umpiring (at home) advantage & the fact that they genuinely challenge every decade or so.

Not like player retention has been an issue for them for the most part in the past. I could very well be wrong but i think clubs need to back themselves in to retain talent and take the best available in this position. If a club offers an absolute stupid package of course you consider it, but outside of that i would be taking him.

It hasn't been an issue so far, but they had been competitive throughout the course of this groups' career.

What they're facing now is a totally different scenario.

West Coast's 1st selection for:

Our first pick (pick 3) plus DGB and Brockman.

Personally I wouldn't want us to do that, unless the players want to leave. We can offer pick 3 (which would be Curtin - which is likely a big point of consideration for them) and our second, plus whatever else. It may not be as valuable as what GWS may offer, but it would at least mean they'd draft Curtin.

Tbh, I couldn't give a fk what other clubs need. But he'd be perfect for us. We could play him anywhere.
We don't have that Petracca/ Dusty/ Degoey type, but I reckon he fits that mould.

Doubt we end up with him. I'm almost certain he's GWS bound.
