I don't think players like to use the PSD because it's a small industry and you don't want to burn bridges. And generally when players move it's not because of a falling out with their old club (eg. Brockman).

In the case of Bailey Smith it sounds like a situation where the PSD threat (from his side) could be real next year. I wonder if that possibility will creep into the mind of the Dogs decision makers.

They'll also want to consider that if Smith is set on Hawthorn that our trade capital available for the deal this year is more than likely going to be greater than what we have next year when they also have less leverage.

Ffs it’s a hypothetical trade thread, I’m sure there’s some more serious thread for you somewhere here!

Newcombe for pick 1
Will day for pick 2 + Callum Coleman Jones to solve our key forward issue .

Is that better ?

The biggest takeaway besides our improved form this year is how close the group has become , every player that's been interviewed talks about it and cj is a massive part of that group from 18-24. He is also the exact player when fit will suit Mitchell's game plan.

We've had some good info on our boards. It's always prefaced by the "confidence", but you can't expect anything to be 100%.

Stratton captaincy well before it was announced.

Coniglio deal all the way through - including Blues being confident Hawks would sign him and they knew were never in the running, also including it collapsing at the death thanks to Gil's dirty dollars.

Martin to the Blues.

Actual picture from the Blues "war room" when they were all together having a meeting regarding trades.

Plus more.

This was information that I had personally received that originated from two different sources from the Hawks and Blues. I shared this with a few others at the time.

The Hawks-related info received seemed to be coming from a very similar (or same?) source as RnL's that had an impeccable track record.

There’s been rumblings since the middle of the season that the Dogs would entertain trading Bailey Smith. Given they’re clearly open to trading him (regardless of what they’re saying right now). He’s got 1 year left on the contract, which means they’ll be heading down the Dunkley path if they ask for too much. Our Future first + a second round pick with the possibility of a player being included should end up getting it done.

Our future first next year will be projected to be worth more than they got for Dunkley.

Can I please buy a couple of kilos of whatever you’re on ? Seems like some good shiiit

What's wrong with the trade? Seems pretty fair for everyone.

The main question is what is the Haynes GWS salary cap dump actually worth. And what would happen if we trade Brockman, in this instance it would be better to get a future pick from the Eagles.

Doggies lose Smith but gain a F1 and would take 10 and 12 to the draft before using the rest to match a bid on Croft.

They'd essentially have five first rounders in two years instead of maybe three (all depending on where the Croft bid comes in, which seems like it would happen before pick 17).

GWS move off the Haynes contract and still retain a second first rounder. Essentially a pick slide.

Hawks get Smith and Haynes for effectively a F1.

I think I galaxy-brained it for the most part.

1. Edmund has a track record similar to Brad Fitzgerald
2. He is reporting info from Friday, prior to being eliminated from from Finals and prior to Smith pulling out from Sickness
3. Dogs enquired about having Cotton On cancel Smith's sponsorship on the basis of contract conflict during the year, has caused angst in the Smith camp

Not sure about the Liam Henry interest- what role does he play in our side?

Been useless when used as a forward for Freo where we’d need him - he only started coming good when played as a loose half back/mid where we are already stacked…

Wont get my hopes up on Bazlenka- sounds like he’d cost a bit and Floglong are trying to c*ck block us again with property deals like they usually do…

Don’t mind the idea of getting Smith. Recon Sam would get the best out of him.

But would we rather Smith or the Suns round 1 pick if both cost us the same and we had to pick one or the other.

I probably go with the Suns pick.
I love the idea of being able to have back to back picks in that rage but Smith is a known commodity, which is hard to pass up IMO.
