Same way that we say player x is valuable because he is a free swing

Other players are approached and talked to because they will be cheap

To Richmond he’s worth going for because he will be cheaper

Just because he’s tall doesn’t mean he’s worth anything more than he would if he was shorter

I’d love a second, would be pleasantly surprised at a third but am expecting a fourth

Not saying it to annoy the second rounder or draft people just the way I see it

Losing out on McKay is a big blow.

Another season of Frost is just a terrible outcome for us. We need a good KPD desperately.
Blanck and Scrim will play ahead of Frost you'd think.

Why? I honestly don’t get this mentality. If you’re selling a car for $10,000 and the best offer you get for it is $6,000 are you better off taking the $6,000 or setting the car on fire? Has any club who’ve thrown the tantrum and let a player go to the PSD ever come out the better for it? All you’re doing is giving our opposition a free asset.
This isn’t a free market scenario though. Your car is demanding to be sold to one buyer only, thereby killing your hopes to get market value. If you force it to the tip and let some other buyer the car hates pick it up for nothing, it makes a statement to other cars in your garage. This may well impact future sales discussions. We’re not privy to all those so can’t really gauge success as a tactic. Your Lamborghini may think twice about demanding you engage in a one-buyer sale in future, knowing you don’t roll over in negotiation.

Because the analogy isn’t that simple.

In the AFL economy, talls are as valuable aa hens teeth. We have one. Richmond don’t. If they think they can get him for cheap, he’ll just head to the draft where someone else will snap up.

Or, we can create urgency and stick firm and not acquiesce to a pick that history shows has a very poor statistical chance of making it.

It’s not as simple as you say either - sides just get the player to put a price on their head that other clubs won’t pay and even out the deal like with Jack Martin and Carlton.

Realistically without kpp players coming in on both ends, we are looking at bottom 6 again.
Doubt it with this group.

Frost will be solely back up if we don’t land McKay. Blanck FB and Sicily CHB (whilst McCabe develops) with Scrimshaw and Weddle playing as the 3rd tall. We may lose the odd one on one because of being undersized but we need to play to our major strength of rebounding at speed from defence. The bulk of our off season recruiting/drafting should be trying to fix our forward line.

At least everyone who thought McKay was a spud will be pleased.

There were more saying this on the Bombres board - not many over there would be celebrating based on their thread. Granted their board is deader than their premiership chances.

Pretty sure they all hate each other, which is why they don't post much.

Roid rage.

That’s incredibly dead.
