His best position is hbf or mid imo even though he loves a goal, you want him in the play, I see him playing that Hodge role as hbf interceptor team first type who can impact through the midfield, he could easily pop off straight away or take some time like JHF, depends on his mental ability to fit into his teams strategy ect.

There are a lot of assumptions being made here but as it is a hypothetical thread I will play Devil’s Advocate and throw in the possibility that one of our young mids may see more opportunity of midfield time with the Eagles rather than playing at Box Hill or “out of his desired position” in the firsts.
I have no idea if this is the case or not but remember Josh Kennedy?
Let’s face it we do have quite a few midfielders and medium defenders on the list and at some stage some may want to move and advance their careers.

MM selling the farm for 2 places in draft shows how screwed up the system is. Coach gets meaningless wins late in the season, develops young players, only for the list manager to get rid of some of them to go up in draft. Then you go again next year, all the while supporters are left frustrated by both sides.
I really wish some day the draft picks start being allocated in some other way than giving it to teams that tank. Premier league is not perfect, but atleast winning games at any time of the season doesn’t come back to harm the club and its supporters. Everyone’s aligned on wanting to win every game.

Again, there is no current player in the league that is worth that type of deal. So why are we considering that for a draft pick. It is mental.

Have we really lost anything compared to them? You never truly know who is going to be the best kid - everyone thought Judd was better then Hodge but Hodge has 4 medals around his neck to zero.

What kind of a message does that send to the rest of the comp if we consider trading any of those guys so early in their careers couple of years after being drafted ??? It tells potential draftees that they really are just a commodity that need to become good real fast , it tells the AFL world that we don’t trust our development coaches or our recruiting department, we lose credibility as a club . It’s not as if any of those kids have stuffed up and have all shown their glimpse of real potential and brilliance where you can see why they were drafted .
