Wouldn’t it look bad if we push out Worpel after recently committing to staying? Is he even open to moving?

Conversations with players happen all the time

I know someone within another club fairly significant in player movement and the amount of conversations they have with some players that don't end up going anywhere is insane.

Say for example Geelong ask about Worpel, we may say to Worpels manager "Yo Geelong are interested in trading for you, we want to keep you but let us know if any interest?" Worpel and manager talk and shut down any further involvement, thus he stays a hawk

This similar conversation happens across all clubs at this time (may also be opposition club going direct to manager)

Surley the opposition club approaches the player manager in the first instance 99% of the time?

Wants to go home to be with family?
WCE wants to pay Pick 43 for him (or worse)?
Freo have no 2023 assets but need a new small forward.

Let's say, in 2024:
Freo are 8th
We're 12th

I'm thinking, we work with Freo*:
Out: Brockman + $150k per year + HFC F3 (45ish)
In: Freo F2 (30ish) + Freo 3rd (45)

Where:
2023 45 = 347 points towards McCabe
2024 30 = 629 points
2024 45 = 347 points
Values Brockman at 629 points or approx. Pick 30

I know WCE have massive cash, but I'm hoping they'd not want to overpay on a (pretty talented) prospect player. The $150k means nothing to us, but I'm hoping it would mean a lot to Brocky + family - enough to send him down the road to freo.

*makes me sick even typing it...

Brocky isn’t contracted so I’m pretty sure we can’t contribute to any part of his salary

Thought that was only for outgoing Free Agents.

He's currently contracted & he'll be contracted at the time of Trade.

I'm thinking that Norf won't trade 2 and 3 for Reid.

1. It's a hefty price to pay.
2. The optics - AFL would hate them using multiple picks on 1 player.
3. They would also hate that Norf pushed to have Ryleee Sanders included as an NGA player and then burned the pick that would realistically draft him. (If they split pick 3 to get him, they reduce their ability to get pick #1. If they don't, AFL might consider withdrawing next year's assistance).

Plenty more to play out IMO.

I reckon it’s all been agreed in secret. We just need to see it play out. Funny if a club like * double crosses the others

If the thought of North getting Reid gifted to them by the afl is getting you down
Just remember they will be going into 2024 with Aiden Corr As their only key defender and Tristan xerri as their number 1 ruck.

So, you're trying to cheer us up by suggesting the Shinbeggars will live up to their name in a year from now and wangle some more first-round picks from the AFL for the 2024/25 drafts?

This is what happens when you turn every cookie off that you can - the advertising just goes scattershot. I once tried to outsmart the Instagram algorithm by reporting every ad as being irrelevant to the point where all I was getting was very graphic Russian ads for penis enlargements - which made scrolling on public transport very precarious. Biggest pain in the ass I have to contend with is a toddler.
At least the biggest pain isn’t an enlarged Russian Penis!

I figure the beggars will trade next years picks this year so they cant be taken away from them. An end of first next year will get them a 2nd this year or a player.

That's why you need AnuSol!!!!!

Yep no way to pay salary without a contract for next year. Also freo already traded their second and f2 with port for ports f1.

Well, here's the deal, both Brock and particularly his manager was told to hold fire as far as nominating wce so we ( Hawthorn) can at least ' bluff' that we have two choices not one , the other been Freo. But, for some unknown ****ed up reason, his management just nominated the eagles as Tyler's next destination anyway. Not sure if anyone else knows this info but I'll just leave it here so that everyone can understand why we're not overly accommodating this trade. İt will go through but we need to start making a stand.
And kozi is worth more than round 3 rubbish as well. İn fact, upnhis contract to two years with a trigger for a third and keep him.
D'Ambrosio isn't all that important. Give zero and try your luck at PSD! No biggie.
Time to be a campaigner!
So do all the posters who said “ we wish Brockman well” still feel the same after this?

He was always going home to WA and he was always going to nominate WCE - poor form from himself and his manager

We are getting screwed again a la the Bradley Hill deal mark 2 only worse the second time around
