Saw him picking splinters on Saturday.

Which is still more of a contribution than you’ve likely made to anything in life. Glad you’re planning on spending another few months potting our players in trade chat only to disappear when the season is on because a meaningful contribution is beyond you.

You can't judge from a TV screen or sitting in the stands who the guy is and his relationship with his team mates or club.
By all counts he's well respected and loved within the club. You hear this all the time.
Did I say he wasn't respected?

My observation isn't from TV screen, I go to watch training at least once a week.

It's my observation, and it doesn't come across like he wants to be there.

Another one to add to my ignore list.
Goody.

Don't get so sensitive, it's not potting, it is identifying situations that could make our club get back to the top again.

I have made my meaningful contributions for the last couple of years, and one of them was when I suggested that t.mitchell & o'meara had to go.

Sure it's not what people want to hear, and it didn't go down well, but that's what needed to happen.

And look at the hawks now. Our game, leadership and culture has improved out of sight.

You’re an idiot - I have said I was in lockstep with our list management decisions last season. I was never against them. I was on record throughout 2022 that our midfield needed refreshing and that meant Mitchell going. What I was against last year is your absolute constant drivel about Tom Mitchell. You’ve now continued it comparing Wingard to a muesli bar and packet of chips. You don’t remotely sound like a Hawthorn supporter with the way you just fill trade threads with your negative dross about Hawks listed players.

Definitely has X factor, however like I mentioned in my previous post, he just doesn't engage with this squad.

I notice he is constantly at the back of team huddles, walking off the ground about 2-3 metres away from the team.

He was promised success and it never came to fruition, I get the feeling he is just doing enough to gauge interest from rival clubs in the hope of a 2 year contract. Which is fine, but I want picks that make the McCabe bid work.
Dumb post, your observation of him at the back of team huddles does not mean he's not invested in the team. All his career he's been a reserved type. Nothing you say is based on fact. It's all 'I noticed', 'I get the feeling'. I'm sick of this crap from our 'supporters'

Probably an unpopular opinion, but Jack Silvagni just seems like a player Sam Mitchell would love playing for him. When we take our anti Carlton glasses off (I have a pair for every day of the week!) he is actually a very effective player that gives 100% every time he takes the field. As a free agent, I wouldn’t be disappointed if he was wearing Brown and Gold next season.

He is an UFA so I assume we have given him some thought.

Am I missing something, why would GC trade their first this year for a future pick? They need loads of points this year.

I cant see how Hawthorn can compete with other clubs who have more points stockpiled.

Im all for using our future pick in something that might get Reid or another top 6 or 7 pick this year, but I cant see it with GC.

They have not.
it has been amended though so that contracts cannot be smoothed like they did to Bowes. Have to take the remaining contract on exact terms.

Because with the ridiculous points system, they can trade their first into early next year, and use points from later picks this year. They don’t have enough, but could use their future 2nd to make it up (trade back into this year).

Have been told the name Silvagni

Personally not a fan but thought I’d put it out there
He’s an upgrade on Kosi.

I’ll counter your “assumption” with the words from Chad himself post-game where he talks about where we can get to in 2024 and what it means to play for Hawthorn.

I think it would require a third party. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the only way we could do this would be a three way trade. For example:

Hawthorn in: Gold Coast 1st
Hawthorn out: Hawthorn future 1st

Gold Coast in: Sydney picks 22, 25, 41, 44
Gold Coast out: Gold Coast 1st

Sydney in: Hawthorn future 1st
Sydney out: Sydney picks 22, 25, 41, 44

Gold Coast move 1,644 points for 2,375 points. i.e. a 731 point surplus. This takes Gold Coast from their current 4,003 points to 4,734 points.

Only issue I can see is that Sydney will only have pick six then pick 80 odd. They will no doubt ask for us to include our 32.

Good chance we will need to move on our F3 at least for McCabe points.

Feels dirty saying this but I agree with Cornes. Haynes is a solid player and not one you'd desperately go after and take his huge contract for a low draft pick. A high draft pick seems a suitable incentive otherwise it's a huge win for GWS and a huge burden for the next club. It'd be worth it for a Collingwood who could use his skills to hopefully snag a premiership, but for a team like us it's far less valuable on his own.

Hate when people throw this sort of stuff out there like they know for sure when they are just guessing like the rest of us.
Either phrase it better or don't make out like you know what's really going on.
You don't even have to use all the words these days......IMO.......
