For us to get better as a team at some stage we most likely will need to risk losing a decent player or two to get decent picks to leverage in trade .

We have a glut of players suited to half back so its only natural or logical that 1-2 may make way for the betterment of the team .

Not saying it'll happen but if we got offerred a top 20 pick for Scrimshaw , I'm taking it .

One kid early in the second round of the draft for 2 established players? One of which is a former pick 6 and one of the most naturally talented players on our list?

Not in a million years.
That is a funny way of typing two fringe best 22 players.

Petracca almost single-handedly carried Melbourne to the finish line with an incredible second half. That's the type of player Reid can be.

However, Melbourne's forward-line (especially their tall forwards) were largely impotent and easily accounted for by Collingwood's defenders.

Day, Newcombe, Reid would be an incredible core of elite ceiling players. Surrounded by some genuine quality too. But would it matter if we don't have the forwards to really trouble sides?

We would have won tonight.

Very unconvincing top 4 sides.
I'm suddenly more confident about next season.

Lewis will continue to trouble sides. Melbourne would give their left arm for him.
Plus we’ll likely be an even more pleasing option for forwards in 12 months time.

Assuming the Roos get pick 3 compo, how about Scrimma, Frost and Pick 4 for pick 2

Trade Kosi to Melbourne for 24

We then on trade 2, Brockman and 24 to the Eagles for 1

Trade future first and Dogs 2nd to Gold Coast for 5

Eagles get guaranteed Curtain plus some change, Roos still get Mckercher and Watson/Duursma with a couple of good bolsters to the backline

Scrimmers is way, way, way to good a player to be packaged up with Kosi as some esoteric later swap package.

He doesn't get enough credit on this forum IMOH. He had his struggles this year but previous years he's been really very good indeed of half back.
I don’t even know why we’d be packaging up Kosi to be honest - he’s no superstar but we are really thin on key forwards- it makes zero sense for us to trade one at this point…

Mitch Lewis already a better forward than basically everyone that played in tonights final.
