With the Rankine trade last year with GCS, where we gave, what looked like, every pick that the Suns wanted from us.
Does anyone else feel that part of the deal for Rankine also included us getting GCS first this year and we swap picks to meet their academy requirements this year ?
It just felt last year, we didn't push a hard bargain with Rankine on the premise that we get their first this year ?
I don't think we would have thought that far ahead, or even been aware of the possibility.

That said, never to late to go back to GC and say 'remember last year how easy we were to deal with and didn't screw you hard, wanna be buds again this year....'

More than I thought we should have at the time bearing in mind the pick 7 Bowes deal we should have piggy backed onto

Regardless - I see them doing us no favors whatsoever as they were pissed we took Rankine from under their noses when they thought he was signed sealed and delivered so to speak to stay on with them
I don't think Rankine will influence GC. Whatever is the best deal they will take imo.

Is Will Gould going to get delisted at the Swans? Given their KPD problems this year you would have thought he would have gotten more than 4 games. Seems like he's not come on for the Swans.

However at 192cm at 102kg with a bullet leg. I wonder if there is still something there to develop, especially if it came at essentially zero cost.

It wouldnt surprise me.

They have been pillaged and plundered for years by various Victorian teams and they lose one SA kid to the Crows and get pissed off.

They have obviously taken on the "Screw SA" personality trait of their owners... The AFL.

Happy to essentially give away players to Vic clubs. Hell, they'll pay Vic teams 1st rounders to take their players.

But oh so offended when a South Australian kid wants to go home. The sheer audacity!

That would be the dream scenario but a huge Longshot

No AFL future

Wouldn’t surprise to see him at Glenelg or even some footy for fun at amateur level

We would have thought into this year and even one after re planning

Perhaps keen to keep on relative good terms with GC but I strongly doubt any future arrangements or handshakes

It just can’t happen that way as it’s better for GC to have multiple clubs getting into a competitive bidding process for their picks

Shame, that kick of his looked like a serious weapon coming out of defense in his U18 year. Havent watched him since, but thought something must be up given he's only played 4 games in 4 years (all this season).

Maybe the 192cm Tweener size KPD has claimed another AFL scalp.

Wasn't there issues with his weight (body size) or am I thinking of someone else.

The piss weak upgrades only happen for Vic clubs, it's basically why Gold Coast are in the competition, to be a feeder club for Vic sides

Yeah he's certainly a very big lad at 102kg (according to the internet he's 8kg heavier than Darcy Fogarty). But he's always been a bit of a man-mountain. If that's what's held him back all this time then maybe a wake up call and a preseason under Burgo might unlock him.

But that's a very big if at this point for Will! I tend to agree with Jeff, I feel like he's destined for a return to Glenelg

True. Hardwick won't drammatically improve them over the long run. He may get a spike over the first year but he will end up like all other coaches up there. It's a great deal for Hardwick, no wonder he resigned from Richmond.

Are there children involved?
I don't believe so, both business orientated people outside footy.

There's definitely an interview from earlier in the season where he speaks about moving clubs and a partner split and how he was struggling with depression at that time, I'm not sure on which platform it was on though

According to her insta account, they were still together 11 weeks ago. Is this a new thing?

You need list spots to throw darts at the board like that. That said, this is our contending group and I doubt they’d be happy going in with just Butts and Keane next year.

No. Our commitment to giving up that pick was what we needed to say to Rankine's manager in order to get their commitment to come here. They needed to know it would go through without hiccup and we could actually get the deal done.

Speaking of which, when are the exit meetings? You would think they would be soon now the SANFL finals are complete.

On the KPD topic, I think we will need at least 1 new player in the 2's to start the season, maybe 2 if Borlase was given his block and deemed to be not a viable option. IMHO, I'm probably less sold on Borlase after his AFL block then I was before it.
