Draper

Speed from the contest, can accumulate, effective clearance winner, average disposal
Ok thanks, that’s kind of how I saw Draper too in YouTube highlights.

I find it hard to get enthusiastic about that kind of player. With a top 5 pick you really want (forgive me) “hurt factor”.

I get it, though I don’t think Draper lacks hurt factor, as such. That speed from the contest is absolutely a weapon

It’s why I’m not too fussed that he seems the most ‘handball-happy’ of the top prospects - he still generates space like not many others, which often has a flow-on effect to those to which he handpasses

Bigfooty crashes instantly if this happens. The servers let alone our posters wont cope with this.
If we are going to do something like that, we need to clear an extra list spot as it would be insane to not trade down with Richmond for 6 & 18 (if Smith is there at 4, Richmond would likely bite our arm off to do a trade)- Take Langford and then go after Dodson at 18. Why would we go Langford when he is just as likely to be there at 6 and not get something extra instead of just burning pick 4 on him

Could definitely justify Lalor at 1, especially with the bounty of picks the Tigers have

Reminds me of Rayner going 1 - maybe not quite as fit or as much of accumulator as others around him at the top of the draft yet, but arguably the highest ceiling of anyone in the crop
Lalor can accumulate plenty when he's fit and running on the top of the ground, don't be fooled by his lack of preseasons and injury niggles.

He was in our academy. That will help.
Think it's going to be a hard sell getting Nasiah to the Crows, harking back to an article I read earlier in the the year he seems highly committed to the Saints at this point.

No doubt they've traded up for OSullivan.

What happens with 1 and 2 will determine who we get.
Lalor at 1 seems like a risk to me if I'm Tigers.
Don't think Draper goes at 1.
It all depends if north trade pick 2 to richmond. that will shape everything else...

I’ve got a sneaky suspicion we’ll take Langford regardless
I know your game now. You play the mozz dont you. You say the worst thing hoping that because you predict something it wont happen. in what universe would they pick landford having got taller mids in curtin and edwards last year and dawson in his prime. Its all about speed and power now for our midfield.

I doubt they do it his year with how even the draft is, but I could see them trying say 10 & 11 for north or even west coasts F1.

Get 2 really high picks again next year and spread the influx a little bit more.

Fair, but the lack of exposed form this year compared to others does hurt that perception a little

One he’s at peak fitness after a few years in the AFL system he should definitely be getting 25+ a game

For those that have watched these kids, of those around the Crows pick, who is:
1. The most sure fire star
2. The one with the highest ceiling

3. The most consistent performer
4. The biggest risk
5. The best fit for our midfield
Do you consider Dustin Martin and Jordan DeGoey stars?

There's only one draftee being compared to them.

Highest ceiling then?
Is there no risk with Lalor? Is he a can't-miss prospect?
He is IMO but I'm a bit biased having watched every game he's played for the GWV Rebels and Vic Country along with last year's U17's Futures. It's not as though I'm late to the party like some though he's been my guy for us in this draft for 2 years.

Tyler Welsh?
The answer to that without being rude is one is being talked up as a possible pick 1 despite virtually no preseason, a late start to the season and further injury niggles in season (I have no doubt bar for injury niggles he'd have been a clear number one), the other draftee it's being suggested is a chance of slipping through to the rookie draft. Jake Stringer is where I see Tyler's ceiling if everything goes well which will seemingly require some changes on a personal basis.

I was taking the P155.

Having said that, the stars have aligned for Tyler with where our list is at. Tex has 1 more year you'd think and then a spot opens up as a mid sized forward in that forward line next to Thilthorpe and Fogarty IF young Welsh really wants it. If I were him, I'd be looking at this preseason and making sure i ticked every box and then set myself for a big year at SANFL level and kick a heap of goals to get ready for 2026 after another big preseason/ Its all there right in front of him if he wants it (assuming we do draft him)

I think we take him almost for certain because I doubt an early bid would be incoming if at all, then like you say it's all up to Tyler himself to put the hard work in to make the most of the opportunity.
