lol, did you watch Smiths highlights? Nothing like Crouch and how do you know what Nicks wants? Or are you Nicks??!!!! That would explain a lot!!
Reading and listening aren't your strong points, I forgot ......

Yeah I wouldn’t do it, even giving up the F1 with a F2 coming back would be too much
Agreed. I would be happy to give up our F1 for another first rounder this year, but not to just move up spots. With the evenness of the top 4 we just need to take whoever is left for us.

You would think if we were super keen on moving up we would pushed someone out for a decent pick.

I don't remember an off season where we limited our options as much as we have.

Of those mentioned around our pick the only one you could almost be 100% certain would be a career Crow is Sid Draper.

I really don’t think it would be that. It all comes down to if North are truly content with taking another 180cm midfielder. I think part of why North have gotten underwhelming offers for pick 2 is because clubs are calling North’s bluff: they think North will reach for Tauru at pick 2 if they can’t facilitate a trade.

If that is the case, and Melbourne are showing interest in Tauru at pick 5, trading with us may simply be a matter of North extracting any extra value and still guaranteeing Tauru at pick 4.

I think even we hadn't expected Peatling to choose the Crows and it appears almost a certainty if Cumming had chosen Powa Peatling doesn't happen. Similarly ANB I suspect was a surprise late in the piece given what he'd said prior re being a career Demon.

Agree, but not sure it’s entirely great business to give up a potentially very good pick next year
I'm not suggesting that but he is obviously the one that shouldn't have any problems re retention.

LOL. Gettable running with my pick 2 trade.

I've thought for a long time ADL and NM are the only logical pairing for the pick 2 trade. I've been reassured by everyone here I am crazy though.

So to try and make this more appealing than sliding our F1 I will put forward the only other trade that I see being mildly appealing to NM.

ADL: F3 + F3 (leaving us with 1 x F3)
SYD: F2 (need points for academy kids and this is a decent points haul)

ADL: 4 + F2 (Syd)
NM: 2

I don’t think NM takes that

The only realistic possibility I’d understand is if we gave up our first, but got a later F1 back (say, by NM splitting their F1 with another team)

I have been calling this for weeks...if we are dead keen on a player and it gets north a free pick as they stay in the top 4 and if they are trading down again, garner an extra pick for it

If North were taking Tauru at pick 2 regardless, then they're a F2 for free and still getting their guy. Richmond don't want to offer pick 6 and Melbourne are lurking around Tauru at 5. It's just a matter of if North are drafting for list needs or talent (and therefore willing to draft a midfielder at 2).

Not me.
The only reason I could imagine us playing hardball in maintaining a future 2nd is that we see it as a crucial trading token?

If North are keen on Tauru and know Melbourne are just as keen on him at Pick 5, would they be open to trading 2 for 4 and F2, essentially gaining a F2 for free? Means we’re guaranteed one of FOS, Lalor or Draper.

Hey all, I come in peace etc.

Was hoping to get some North supporter insight into a potential trade. As an outsider, there seems to be a growing consensus to not pick up another mid at pick 2 and instead trade down for a KPP (by the looks of it, Tauru?) and extract any extra currency possible.

But with rumours Melbourne are willing to pull the trigger on Tauru at pick 5, how willing are North to reach for him? Willing enough to trade Pick 2 for, say, pick 4 from the crows + F2? Or would you rather target another KPP at that point. I imagine it’s less value than you all anticipated but if you’re really keen on Tauru and Melbourne are too I’m not sure you’d be able to extract much more value?

And the feedback from the North board was generally positive regarding that trade. What I didn't consider though was Richmond being unwilling to trade pick 6, which favours us even more so.

Definitely an ‘if’, though, find it hard to believe North likes Tauru THAT much

We get a quality kid at 4 - why bother upgrading

Upgrading is the pick owners market too, doubt we'd get much back from our F1 if we upgraded 4 to 2. Imagine blowing pick 6-10 to upgrade 2 spots in a group of players with very little difference seen between them in terms of overall quality.
