Take Lalor out of it, I was on (1) Langford - then (2) Draper - then (3) Smith ... after watching another round of highlights / videos, that has switched around significantly.

I've found myself wanting Draper now. He just looks like a serious player, the fact he's from SA is a bonus not THE reason to draft him.

Jagga Smith is Butters like, maybe not as tough? But jeez he is one hell of a mover.

Langford I think will take some time to transition to AFL speed. Also, like Smillie, his size in the younger levels makes him seem more than he probably is.

So now I'm at (1) Draper, (2) Smith, (3) Langford

Trying to move to #2 does make sense to me, if we want Draper - if he's our guy - then go get him. Leave nothing to chance.

Still a couple of weeks to go, might change my mind 3 or 4 more times yet!!

Pretty good idea !

Day-Wicks draft range is interesting

Anywherr from pick 35 to undrafted

Thoughts ? He’s good overhead , not a classic small forward on the deck . Pressure game ?
Got plenty of forward X factor, I think a club will take him at some point.

How exactly is that the case?

A high end SA talent compared to a Vic Metro lad whose father Mike has been the head groundsman at Scotch College Hawthorn for an eon?

This isn't an Ebert vs Dangerfield scenario in ny mind, if anything it's the other way round.

What **** does his dad being a groundsman have to do with anything?

😆

'I really think we should take player X, his mother played Stella in a highschool production of A Streetcar Named Desire.'.

I think the scenario is very simple

If Draper is available at our pick - we draft him.

I just don’t see Adelaide FC passing on him if he is still in the board

  • he breaks from stoppages which we don’t have
  • he’s a meters gained type of mid with his run which we don’t have
  • he played sanfl league footy at the end of this year and showed he’s comfortable playing against men and bigger bodies
  • he can plug and play round 1
  • he’s an SA boy who grew up supporting the club

The club won’t be passing on him if available

I prefer draper only very marginally based on the fact he's from SA. I think there's a fair chance Smith ends up the better player though and if he did stick around (it's not a given that he leaves), that's a better outcome.

Do we need a groundsman for our new facility... ;)

I doubt we do, although I think Carlton should take Draper. He’s exactly what’s missing from their midfield and can help them next year, given they’re likely in contention. FOS could be a big win for us if he’s there. Honestly though, I doubt North take Tauru if they stay at 2, it’s just too early, he’d be just about the most speculative #2 I can remember. They’re also a chance to take Draper.
I went back and watched everything I could find on Tauru. Just doesn't seem like a top 5 draft pick to me.

He's a pick of need because the Roos keep taking misdielders...

It's why they are desperate to slide their pick.

I was surprised that he didn't always seem to be one touch, and he's just not that tall.

Look, he seemed like a good prospect. Just not top of the draft.

But just my opinion, I only saw a series of packages.
I also think he could be anything but also could be a good player on a hot form streak at the right time. If it wasn't for North having exactly 1 decent tall on their list, he wouldn't be in discussion so early (no way Dees take him at 5). Understand he's played forward and mid but it's his defensive work that will get him drafted in the 1st round and most of that is 3rd guy marking over the top, one of the easier actions in football. Valuable for sure but I wouldn't be giving up pick 2 for someone to do it. Also an average kick. Would be great if Roos took him at 2 though, gives us more elite mid talent to choose from.

We already know 65% of the top 20 players, the experts are currently flapping over, will FAIL !

One touch players is a critical attribute ....if you can't be clean at U18, you won't at AFL level

Gotta say though, and I haven't studied Tauru at all ....I do like his leap and marking ....you'd assume if he's contested marking cleanly, he should be clean on ground balls too

I’ll give you a stat that will blow your mind

Toward end of season he had 3 consecutive games that added up to 44 intercept possessions or nearly 15 per game

Given how raw and unexposed he is , AFL clubs will be salivating over those numbers

Like a much more advanced James Sicily

For me that puts him in top 5 mix alone especially when you consider the raw athletic traits

Close to the cleanest marks in draft together with Shanahan

You know it, I know it, and so does anyone that has watched him play during the season, has all the hallmarks of an absolute athletic beast. A taller Tom Stewart with better athleticism and hops.

I actually think this is quite a strong draft for potential excellent KPP's, aside from the obvious midfield depth available.

I could see all of Tauru, Armstrong, Shannahan, Faull, Trainor, Gerryen, Mraz, Whitlock x 2, O'Farrell, Stumpf, Nicholls, Sims, West, Barratt, Cole and Dennis being on an AFL list come 2025.

Surprised Gerryen isn’t being talked about more in media

He’s a serious unicorn unique prospect , elite skill for 199cm and has had 30 possession games in wafl U18

Showed he can be dangerous forward in champs too

"We" have to upgrade a rookie because we don't have list spots to take the 3 mandatory draft picks. We delisted 2 senior listed players, who we will re-rookie. We need to upgrade Keane to make room on the rookie list for one of the re-rookied players.

As of right now, we have 3 open senior list spots and 1 rookie spot. Keane for Schoenberg is a straight swap, essentially. Burgess takes the open spot. We then have 2 spots on the senior list. Pick 4 and Welsh.

"We" don't have a very good list management team, we finished bottom 4 yet again but our list is that stacked "we" only want to use one pick and add our father son pick in a deep draft.
