FWIW and not a lot of new info but ...

Intel from Melbourne is that if we can trade up to 2 they believe its for O'Sullivan. North are putting too high a price on it at the moment. Want our future 1st. Asked Melbourne for 5 and 9. North may cave and accept something extra given everyone believes they want Tauru.

Melbourne don't have Draper in their mix. Their knock is that he's poor by foot. They rate everything else (leadership, speed, etc) but think it's a significant weakness compared to the rest.

Thanks for the info and seems legit to me

And while I like Draper I can definitely see their point of view and agree with that part of it

Everyone will be looking for different things

FWIW I can’t see us burning too match capital to move up 2 spots when the talent is even

I could live with Pick 4 + F1 for Pick 2, North F2 and F3 or something like that if just end up trading picks next year for experienced talent.

That and Pick 2 ends up being a rolled gold A grade midfielder (250 games, multiple all australian).

Not sure required as pick 4 is in a pretty sweet spot if kangas keep their pick

Here I was saying I'd pay for a draft rumour today and you've delivered my actual trading suggestion from a month ago. Trade up to 2 and take FOS. I love that kid.

How do I send you money?

Wait until next year 😂 it’s going to be much worse than any other year ever

Swans could have 3x 1st rounders , GC 2-3 as well and brisbane a top 5-10 and some 2nds

This should be very good news for our 3 x third rounders.

With less discount these academy kids are going to delete a bunch of 2nd and 3rd round picks because you can't load up on rubbish picks anymore to pay for them.

40, 41 and 50 are back of the queue points wise so they should be elevated to mid second rounders as these players are matched.

At worse we should be able to trade 3 of them for a very decent pick next year as many teams will be trading out of the first round.

North just want Tauru and have another crack at a first rounder next year. Based on the points difference between 2nd and 4th, the Crows should trade up with the future first but ask North for its future second back. Then next year we can package up draft picks to buy back into the first round. We dont have anything else to offer North so I dont mind it as long as we get something back. So its not the end of the world. If we make finals next year that pick turns into a pick outside the top 10 anyway.

You keep on forgetting about our F/S Mitchell Stephens. We'll need those 3rd rounders for him.

I’d be pretty disappointed if we traded up for FOS

Id bet any money it is to ensure we got Draper. Probably in line to be top 3. I think we have concerns about Carltons pick by the sounds of it. North are happy to trade down for a KPP for the right price. But they seem like they will take Tauru regardless. Maybe word is filtering through that Carlton isnt as sold on FOS as we thought or they think FOS is at risk of going #1 and we have word Draper is their second choice.

Why? He's been a concensus top 2 pick for the past 2 months, was the red hot favorite for pick 1 at the start of the year, did well at the combine, injury plagued year and still has a decent highlights package (thanks to noobermensch for all the videos). Seems to have a good personality too.

I'm not saying he's leaps and bounds better, I'm just saying he looks pretty damn good and potentially has a higher ceiling than most.

Is he better than Draper though. Or will he be that much better we need to lose a futures pick for him. Im not sure. From what I have heard the top 5 mids are all elite and ranked pretty evenly.

Carlton probably like the idea of bringing Draper over with the Campo boys - 3 x SA boys drafted together

If he's not leaps and bounds better, then giving up draft capital feels problematic, especially with Draper likely on the board at our pick (if Carlton go FOS and FOS likely still on the board if Carlton go Draper).

He looks a great player, maybe the most complete of all the draftees but we're also going on 2022 & 2023 form (which was exceptional). If it was 2024 alone then he doesn't go in the first round - albeit because of injury.

If no one in the industry can categorically separate these top ranked players, then I sure as hell don't trust our recruiting team to say one is that much better we need to give up future draft capital for them - given their poor track record with early picks.
