I really don’t know as everyone seems to be playing their cards close to their chests.

FWIW Cal Twomey seems to think he’s not locked in yet and I’m guessing Adelaide feel the same way.
You’d imagine we’d be interviewing all of our top 5 in last week before the draft

What is the general consensus amongst Crows BF users - who do you want if everyone is available?
I hadnt even watched the Lalor highlights because I assumed he wouldn’t be available. I have now, and I agree with many others he’s the best. Assuming he’s not available

2. Smith/Langford
3. Draper

4. FOS

Potentially

Look to get Lalor it’s worth it

Then bear in mind you can trade 2 years in advance future picks now
Still gives us plenty of collateral for NWM end of next season
Yes thanks for the reminder, that would be the long game for us. I guess thats a concern for me using up future resources in this draft. ie. F1.

Next years draft is looking like it’ll be heavily compromised by NGA picks

Dyson Sharp will be unattainable for us so go hard now

Get in Lalor now , NWM next year , draft the best available ruckman and a small forward

If the rumours of Sharp being that good ie Pick 1, there is almost no chance we can get him.

Its definitely in Nicks best coaching interests to go hard now thats for sure.

I agree with your daylight bit, I really don’t understand the FOS love at all. I know he had injuries this year but he also had lots of games where he got less than 20 touches, and lots of games where his possessions were very vanilla. I also don’t trust prospects who regress in their senior year. We have now got 6 or 7 genuine midfield options with Rankine and Curtin being played there late in the year, as well as Peatling, so we really need this pick to be a midfielder with genuine speed and weapons to complement this group. Lalor, Smith and Draper all fit that brief.

I’m starting to feel that many Crows supporters, including myself, have been guilty of underrating Draper, probably because he seems like the safe pick. Local boy, rated by Twomey lower than our pick, his brother hasn’t really come on etc. However He really has genuine speed, takes the game on, is very physical and is a genuine forward running midfield clearance beast. Everything we want really, with being an SA boy just a bonus.

Assuming North take Tauru we really can’t lose at 4, but I would support us trading up to 2 for any of those 3 if the club honestly feel one stands out.

I like Lalor, but I can't see him being a Dusty level midfielder, or JHF, Reid elite top end player.

Has anyone seen Mutineer in the same room as Hamish?
Then you'd be very wrong.

Who in this draft apart from maybe Draper do you think has gamebreaker type attributes.

What exactly does Lalor lack?

He has power, strength, clean hands, above average kicking skills both short and long, scoreboard impact, tackles like a demon, extremely good overhead....and the Dusty, Reid fend off already down pat.

The three potential results for the level of player Lalor ends up as would probably be:
Petracca/Dusty
De Goey
Rayner

Now he may not ever get to that highest level, but in my view he certainly has the potential to do so, and that’s what makes him so highly sought after

I'd have:-
1. Jagga Smith
2. Sam Draper
3. Sam Lalor
4. Finn O'Sullivan
5. Bo Allan
6. Harvey Langford.
All good players. Happy with any of them.
Sid's his name.

You may have seen I like Draper and Lalor the most of anyone at this end.

But I just don't think this top 5 is at that Dusty, JHF, Reid level.
Production is a concern for me with Lalor. As DiT says he could be anywhere from Rayner to Dusty. I think it will be somewhere in the middle.
Very good player, but not convinced he's a 250 game, norm smith, brownlow, mulitple AA midfielder.

If it gets us Lalor

I’d do
4 + F1 for 2 + F2
Would that be arguably our biggest trade of picks we ever had in our history?
Is it really that big of a trade?

Sliding a pick in next years draft back from maybe 12-22 to get the number one guy on our draft board. We wouldn't be making the trade for our number 2.

We've outright traded higher draft capital for Rankine and Dawson, offered a hell of a lot more for JHF. It really is a very small slide assuming we make or are very close to making finals which we should be. And honestly if we don't whoever we were going to pick at pick 8-12 next year isn't going to vault us into contention.
