I hate that, to be honest - once you add the compensation, Father-Sons and Academy picks, that F2 could be pick 30.I wonder if we are now considering F1 to move from 4 to 2 and also get Kangas F2. They are likely bottom 3 and with that draw of ours am confident we make finals
So it’s sliding from say 10-12 to low 20’s next year in a pretty crappy draft from all accounts,
If we want someone bad enough - Draper is the logical one - then perhaps we do pull the trigger and back in our improved performance
I love your perseverance on this, but we don't have list space. There's zero chance we take an extra pick.Had a brief discussion on our board about this. I made the point that any of FOS, Lalor, Jagga or Draper would be a great fit for your midfield. They all have different strengths but there’s no Harley Reid standout this year. Langford is a very good player but lacks pace which is perhaps an area of your midfield that could be improved.
Another consideration might be to keep 4 and use the F1 to get a player like Dodson and a F2. Richmond’s pick 18 and F2 for example.
Could be Smith or Draper for us if that is the case.Been told by the mods posting articles other than paragraph or so will lead to bans so that's going to be difficult.
Basically it says Smith has firmed into the top 5 and Langford could slip through to the Saints. Tigers still favoured to take Lalor but have looked at FOS of late.
Fascinating that the top pick is unclear this close to the draft. Hasn't been that way for a very long time that I can recall.Been told by the mods posting articles other than paragraph or so will lead to bans so that's going to be difficult.

C’mon mate, read my posts I haven’t told you or anyone what to do I’ve said here are some options perhaps worth considering and previously this is what I did in the mock. He's finished his draft... now he's on here telling us what we'll do - when what he's arguing has no basis in reality.
I'd hope we'd then upgrade to pick Lalor, if not Lalor then Draper.... they're the game breaker types we need IMO.Fascinating that the top pick is unclear this close to the draft. Hasn't been that way for a very long time that I can recall.
If FOS goes at 1 it's anyone's guess what happens after that.
Would be happy with that resultCould be Smith or Draper for us if that is the case.
Not a terrible thing
Yep. I'm all about that. If we can't get one of the two I'll be disappointed to he honest, even though I'm sure Jagga and Langford will be very good players.I'd hope we'd then upgrade to pick Lalor, if not Lalor then Draper.... they're the game breaker types we need IMO.
"knowing Hamish" means what exactly ??Other articles saying Lalor and FOS going 1 and 2 and Carlton grabbing Draper. It's then Smith or Langford for us and knowing Hamish it will be Langford to us
Out of all the options of Smith, Draper, Lalor, FOS and Langford, even if all were available, Hamish would probably pick Langford, the least needed out of the mids given their attributes."knowing Hamish" means what exactly ??
The kid isnt some random that we're picking.
I wouldnt say "least needed"Out of all the options of Smith, Draper, Lalor, FOS and Langford, even if all were available, Hamish would probably pick Langford, the least needed out of the mids given their attributes.
Smith go home factor may be the issue as mentioned and I am firming that Carlton will take Draper given their thoughts would be he "will settle in with the Camporeale boys"
In that scenario I reckon Carlton take FOS.My new prediction:
Richmond: Lalor
NM: Tauru
Blues: Draper
ADL: FOS
His forward work was more impressive than his midfield stuff in the admittedly brief footage I watchedI wouldnt say "least needed"
We dont have many midfielders who can go forward, have huge workrate and kick like he does.
well firstly my thinking has updated after the favourable fixture was released y/day and the club would need to strongly back in a finals performance (no finals = Nicks gone 100%). So F1 equals a 10-12 pick which after the 7-8 FS/NGA in the top 30 becomes 13-15 next year. Yes clearly assumes we make finals and I acknowledge thats the risk but I am backing in the club to finally come good. Back in 2023 i felt we could beat any team - and either beat or got within a goal of all top 4 teams AWAY from home and our team clearly is SO much better in 2025 with 3 good INs, Rankine into midfield, elite youngsters 'organic growth' and TT looking like he is going to literally rip the competition a new oneI hate that, to be honest - once you add the compensation, Father-Sons and Academy picks, that F2 could be pick 30.
Meanwhile, we could be top 5.
All the risk is with us - and for what?
Dawson and Curtin are exactly that.I wouldnt say "least needed"

Might be smoke and mirrors by Carlton but I’m sold on them taking Draper personally. I don’t think they traded up for a player who will come good a few years from now. Draper may not have as high a ceiling as FOS but will certainly be more impactful in year 1, especially in a one-way midfield lacking pace. Carlton are in win-now mode and Draper offers more to Carlton’s midfield in the short term IMO.In that scenario I reckon Carlton take FOS.
Dawson is many things, a good forward is not one of them though, IMO he probably goes back behind the ball in 2-3 years time. Curtin certainly looks good, but hes still young.Dawson and Curtin are exactly that.
I agree with most of this, however if Reid is a ruthless bastard then why did we roll over so quickly on pick 25 for ANB which would probably have got Dodson, and why are Smith, Schoey. Burgess and Strachan still on our list when none of them are close to our best 22?well firstly my thinking has updated after the favourable fixture was released y/day and the club would need to strongly back in a finals performance (no finals = Nicks gone 100%). What is the clear advantage?
So the question is ultimately do we secure now our next ELITE mid to join Rankine, Dawson and friends - SA boy (no go home or over paying factor for whole career), Crows fan and likely future captain for a slide from what I believe will be 13-15 next year to around 30 as you say. If the draft is pretty crappy next year is it worth NOT securing Draper for all the reasons listed but mainly the ideal fit of EXPRESS PACE we desperately need in the midfield when all we are losing is the difference in quality of say pick 14 next year compared to pick 30. And he is a plug and play and would likely be in the team round one next year
I am tempted now thinking holistically over his whole career but certainly acknowledge things could go wrong - like Power giving F1 for Luko - some of their board now saying they have ultimately just paid twice the price for him as may finish with pick 6-8 instead of 12-16 after their 'scary' fixture
finally, Reidy is actually a pretty ruthless b@stard and unlikely to even do the deal as I acknowledge we are giving up overs and he wont like that. IF we could swap 2 or 3 of our future third rounders for another teams F2 that MAY get it done as Kangas dont really have any other trade partners besides us with Dees a threat at 5 for Tauru
Cant wait for next week
