sorry i meant why would SAINTS bluff when they didnt get the benefit? Dees got the benefit - so what incentive was there for Saints to help the Dees out?
Obviously ESS thought St Kilda weren't bluffing ....not given they need a small fwd

I’d imagine we could do this, at least:

Two or three F3’s, plus 82
for
a F2

Then,
4 + F2
for
2

And we walk into next years draft with just a first, fourth and fifth round.

Remember it is likely we will have to replace Tex, Smith and possibly Murphy, Strachan and one or two others. ROB, Crouch and Milera are UFAs. Schoenberg will also be an UFA now.

Unless we have a great 2025 trade/free agency period, we might be up against it to retain list depth.

If ROB, Crouch and Milera go we will get compo unless we bring in free agents.

We can trade in picks, but I’d say we plan on doing what we did this year and take **** all picks and try and get experienced players, ideally Free agents

We’d have a bit of flexibility. We’d be able to trade future picks two years ahead into the current draft, we can sign free agents (whether they be restricted, unrestricted or even delisted). We can also go from a 38/4 list structure (what we currently have) down to a 36/6 or 37/5 one, if we’re struggling to fill list spots

I hope you’re correct about North taking Tauru at 2, as we should stay put at 4 if that’s the case. However I’m not 100% on it, and I get the feeling our team aren’t either.
North very likely to take Tauru as they need him & not a midfielder.

We just need to stay calm with pick 4 & take a gun midfielder. We can't lose!

Dunno either mate ! But I presume NO

Otherwise the draft would go for longer than a test match
3 days isn't that long ....takes me that long to get thru those supersized popcorn cups

All I'm reading into all this media speculation is they haven't got a ****ing clue what any club is doing at the top end, first it was Draper, then it was Langford now it's supposed to be Jagga Smith. They are all guessing that's all that's clear.

Yet most react like any little
Thing they read should be taken as gospel.

Especially if it conforms to what they want personally

The Age have claimed they've spoken with 13 recruiters & list managers & come up with this order(with disclaimers on every pick, because they say it's a wide open draft):
Rich - Lalor
NM - Tauru
Carl.- Smith(that's a new twist!)
Ade. - Draper(if Draper gone they state that Crows are strong on Smith & Langford)
Melb. - Langford
Bris. - Ashcroft(surely a club is going to bid on him earlier - what is this, Queensbury Rules?!!)
Rich - Smillie
St.K - FOS (wow!! could he slip this far?)
St.K - Travaglia

And then I nodded off.
Surely Ashcroft bid comes earlier.

Doubt FOS slides that much.

Is this the same HS article? Because if it is, why do they have us taking Draper in their mock, yet are saying we are making a play for Jagga

They are all guessing as rhe clubs with top picks are talking too all possible players.

No one really knows given there is no clear order.

His last phantom draft is usually after he talks to the teams one last time.

But you're right, I don't think even they know right now what's going to happen
The whole Draft order is dependent on RICH (Lalor v FOS) and whether NORTH trade #2

Those two calls set the tone for the 1st round

Hmm, I am starting to think a lot of mind games are going on here. If North are wedded to taking Tauru at 2, then Smith 'might' have slid to Richmonds next pick so they don't go for him at 1 thinking he will get to 6. Does our heavy 'interest' have them take Smith at 1, meaning another player we are very keen on is there at 4 that may not have been? OR we are genuinely interested in Smith ourselves

Who knows?????
I have mentioned several times there is deliberate misinformation from clubs as they are not going to let others know what their priority player is.

I have no doubt smith and Draper are our targets unless Lalor is not picked at 1 by Richmond and he is available for us to pick.
Would be very happy with any of these 3.

How did you feel about the Dawson deal?

About Peatling?

I think we were happy to offer 28, didn't want to **** around to get a pick a couple of spots lower, and Melbourne didn't want to fuss around to try and get something better.

So much of trade week is a waste of time, it's good to occasionally see two sides just do the obvious deal.

I understand the frustration that we never seem to get an absolute steal - like Geelong or Richmond ripping off GCS or WCE - but that doesn't mean this was a bad deal.
Dawson was a steal IMO. Both at the time (3rd in Swans B&F) and they rated him very highly (wanting our pick 5 which I understand posturing but late teens was unders) and even more once we saw him week in, week out. Great job by Reidy. Needs to aim for one of these every year as Horks used to do.
