Do you think NM taking Tauru is dependant on a trade down, or do you think they take him either way at 2 or 4?
Unless Lalor is available, Roos take Tauru... & even then they still may take him regardless.

Collingwood has they want to hire him.
Yes emailed old mates Reidy and Silvers re this saying if Pies, the biggest club in the land, are offering him this role then (1) we can’t afford to lose him and (2) perhaps we should be offering him the same role with us

Kelly out. Reid in. (They didn’t respond to this email haha)

If a club likes someone then they take him regardless of a trade or not. Fact is North need Tauru much more than
a midfielder, they will try and get something to move back and still get him, but if he’s their man they will take him at 2 if they can’t engineer a trade.

The thinking as I understand it is RICH are keen at #6 on Tauru ....but surely they'd take Langford if there at #6

IMO Tauru wouldn't get past SAINTS

Norths Midfield is already stacked ....the flexibility of Tauru is the greater need .....I don't think they'll want to fall back past #6
If they can get a sweetner to swap 2 & 4 ....they will do it

The question is who is our #1 target, and can we get him at #4

Personally I don’t care about getting a steal, I care that we mismanaged the list so much that we now have no flexibility in a really deep draft that includes a perfect ruck option for us to nab. Reid has certainly got some things right recently, but it surely can’t be argued that it would be better to draft Dobson this year than keeping Strachan or Burgess.

I have no doubt that we didn’t expect to get Peatling when we agreed to give 25 for ANB, however being able to see and plan for all eventualities is precisely what a list manager should be able to do.
Seriously that’s just totally unrealistic in life, let alone a List Mgr role. Give the man some credit - you never responded to my detailed message with his achievements for some reason also

Who is this idiot thinking Adelaide trade up to land Smith?

How does that help?

Even offloading those worthless third rounders next year, for what reason other than taking Draper before Carlton do?

Got you reading the article though didn't it. That was the point

I have a feeling Dees would take Tauru at 5 too, hence why we’re really the only ones in play for a NM pick swap

I think there’s a world where North opts for FOS, but it definitely seems less likely than Tauru, either at 2 or 4

I have a feeling this is our order FWIW:
1. Lalor
2. Smith
(gap)
3. Draper
4. Langford

With regards to the info that’s slowly leaking out, I don’t think we’d consider a move up for Draper. Whereas we seem to be concerned that Carlton might take Smith

I think you're underestimating FOS ....but as I've said, each of the top 5 Clubs will rate those players differently, based on their existing midfield mix and needs

Some clubs apparently have Lalor at 4 in rankings .....IMO, anyone of FOS, Smith, or Draper suits us perfectly .....although like everyone I'd love to get our hands on Lalor

I’d be happy to select FOS (or any of that quartet you mention). Just that I haven’t really seen him linked to us

Probably because until yesterday, most pundits assumed he was the target of CARL

Who’s your top 5 rated in this draft in general Wayne ? Not for crows but just in general ?

I'm going to go on game impact / hurt factor as my criteria .....and factoring in who I think would be the better Finals player:

1. Lalor,
2. Draper
3. FOS
4. Langford
5. Smith

From what I've seen, Draper is the more direct mtrs gained player over Smith .....and maybe the better Finals player

But it's hair splitting between FOS, Draper, and Smith

I think FOS is potentially more an icing player and I have a few increasing doubts over his season despite injury , have pushed him down late just due to unknowns re his season this year

Classiest player in draft though and top ceiling is Shaun Burgoyne like

So I’m going
Lalor
Smith

Gap

Travaglia
Draper
Langford
FOS

But it’s so even

Cannot see Travaglia not being a VERY good player

Have high hopes for all of them though

Smith the surest thing of the lot

I'd be happy to pass on draper if there's a better player. Yeah let's not pick a better player cos hes not from sa foh.
SA players historically underwhelm relative to their draft position. Victorians are a safer and usually better proposition

This feels like posturing by the club. We probably know that the top three will be 1. Lalor, 2.FOS and 3.Draper. If this happened there would be an outcry that we missed out on local boy Draper. Now they will be able to sell we got who we wanted at Pick 2 with Pick 4.

Lalor
Tauru (assumes no trade with crows)
Draper
Langford
FOS/Smith

(Disregarding Ashcroft)

No possible way Kangas go another mid. Look at their top 10 drafting the last 4-5 years. Must be 8+ mids and NO KPP IIRC
Mine we my personal ranking, not the order I think they will go.

Agree Tauru to the Roos.

Richmond have been linked to Smillie with #6

If the report we are trying to trade up to get Smith are true then I can't see we won't select Smith at pick 4?
