The neighbours think that they can trade up, if Draper slides.

Come on, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, 2 posters suggested it and it was dismissed.

Thats like them reading Wayne’s opinions on Nicks and reporting back their neighbours rate Nicks.

Actually next year a 2025 1st will be more compromised because of F/S picks and Academy players.

More compromised than the 2027 draft?

How did you work that out? You're across all the F/S and academy prospects in 2027?

Tasmania enter in 2028 also, so the 2027 draft will be compromised.

Be nice to see him getting the second touch, and then getting to outside with pace. Doesn’t seem like the guy you want having the first, most-pressured possession.
Sort of

He's the guy who want to have the ball at the source so he can burst away from the stoppage ala Danger.

And like Danger he'll shank the odd kick.

I can see Draper becoming a whipping boy if he doesn’t improve his disposal and propensity to panic with ball in hand. Upside/potential is there. And looks like a leader. So I suppose we’ll take the good with the bad.

Hard to say at this point, though if the offensive production is there, he'll survive being a mediocre kick - especially if the leg speed is as advertised. After all, there are a lot of star players who barely hover above 1/2 in regards of kicking efficiency.

If he doesn't live up to that starting inside midfield caliber player, however? It becomes very likely Draper will end up a whipping boy if the draft lives up to the hype.

If it is Draper, will be nice having a SA boy who we aren’t at risk of losing unless we **** up.

Dawson, Rankine, Draper, 3 quality SA mids
Have asked this before but would any other team have as many players who grew up supporting the club?

Dawson
Rankine
Draper (fingers crossed)
TT
Milera
Cook
Walker
Max
Hinge
Burgess

= pretty impressive list (many of our elite)

Pretty sure ALL of the above were Crows fans and below other SA boys I forget which ones but assume there would have been some.

Shoey?
Laird?
Dowling?
Pedlar?
ANB?
Cumming?
The Fog?

It would be referring to this Nicks quote from 2023 but the poster obviously hasn’t read the second paragraph.

"It's an interesting one, because I've always been one of those coaches who's said just give me the guys who work hard. Give me 18 of those and we’ll get a flag," Nicks said.

"But I reckon there's got to be a balance with that. Talent wins premierships, and the hard work and role players get you there, so you need to find that balance.

No, I'd heard that. He said something similar another time where he says he's 'coming around to talent being more and more important'. He definitely began thinking hard workers was all that was rewquired and he has developed thankfully.

ANB and Fog were, don't think Laird was nor was Cumming. Dowlings family were rabid Collingwood fans. Not sure about Harry or Pedlar.

That’s my read of it all.

Depends on Pick 2 and the permeations from there.

1. Lalor
2. FOS (Nth, Rich) Smith (Adelaide)
3. Smith / FOS (Carlton)
4. Draper (Adelaide)
So if we want to move up it would be for Smith but if Smith and Draper are both available at 4.... why wouldn't we also still select Smith?

Ok thanks man. That’s a very decent list of Crows supporters. Can’t imagine any other team gets close to it.

Mainly for the romance of it all

I think this is why I'm indifferent between him and Smith. I think Smith could be the better player, but the certainty of keeping a good player tips draper over the edge. I think draper has a lot of traits we typically lack as well (genuine speed, power, agility + accumulation). He runs hard both ways as well.

The only thing I'm unsure about is his disposal. I think it's fine and that's all you need with his other weapons, but time will tell if it's worse than I thought.

TBH - at this stage no one can say with any confidence which of these too 5-6 mods will have the better career.

Basically junior footballers that have played against boys, with couple of them already played in sanfl and vfl football

History shows that once in a full time AFL system - not all junior talent comes to the surface, the demands and expectations of an AFL footballer adds another dimension that can’t be assessed pre-drafting.

Where I do think Draper has an edge amongst the group - he seems like a natural leader, this will stand him in good stead

Wow they hate Lindsay over there on the port board … interesting

Fairly highly rated on here

Seems mostly they’re keen on Shanahan which would be a great get for them

Can play both ends too which they might need

Playing devils advocate the main doubt I’d have on Draper is ‘class’ for a top 5 pick

He will definitely make it in some form as an afl player though , for reasons you’ve outlined

You get a sense from Draper - what ever his ceiling is, he will reach it…..

Super professional and leads by example

Question is - will the other 4-5 mids reach their ceilings as well?

Reality is - we are pick 4 and 3 of the players plus Ashcroft won’t be available to AFC
