Yeah his quote says 2 picks and then have enough points for Welsh too.

Doesn't line up with oud available list spots.
You're over analyzing. He was just sloppy with his expression.

The only bit that worried me was that he was open to live-trading pick 4 down, if he got a good offer!

I'd do it for 5, 6 and 7

Every thing I've heard is that Hamish loves Langford as a player but yeah there's a whole recruiting team and list needs that need to be factored in.
Have we actually been linked to Langford since West Coast traded pick 3?

It seems it was all Langford up until that point, but that was with WC heavily linked to Draper. Has seemed to be Draper ever since.

(I'm happy with either, but prefer Draper)

The article does clarify it with the comment about the 2 picks including Welsh.

Yeah he said that. But it would be pointless as we don't have the list spots to split the pick anyway.

Don’t reckon Cripps and Bont would have had near as many running bounces in their 18th year taking the game on and forward with penetration

There’s burst speed then there’s transition running

Langford can be an elite transition runner

Our fixable problem isn't transition .....it's us continually getting thumped at CBA's Jeff

I think Langford is the best of the lot. The melts will come from the FB happy clappers who just assume Draper is the one because he’s local.
If we wanted Langford or Draper (instead of Smith/ Draper) we would be better trading down.

It could be as follows:

North 2 for Richmond 6 and 18
North 6 and F1 for Adelaide 4 and F1

We get probably Draper or Langford, North get Tauru plus pick 18, slide down f1, Richmond get Lalor/ Smith.

Carlton get Fos/ Draper, Melbourne Langford/ Draper / FOS,

We get the last one, Draper/ Langford

Yeah bad injury run kept him out for a while but he should have regained fitness better than he did, rumours of a "Tyler Welsh" attitude to rehab
That's absolute rubbish, GWV Rebels work with the RAD Centre in Ballarat who are considered world class. Eamon Gill at the Rebels is his mentor, if you knew Eamon Gill you'd know that's absolute bullshit.

Vader would we have wiggle room in our salary cap to pay out one of Schoey or Burgess?
I don't know - nobody outside the club (and AFL) knows. My guess is no - but it's only a guess.

Regardless, we're committed to re-drafting them in the RD. You can forget about paying them out and making an extra ND selection. It's not going to happen.

Mostyn at least Vader can admit we don’t know and he’s only guessing, perhaps you could take a leaf out of his book rather than making up definitive excuses

tbh I'd do it with St kilda.

melbourne and richmond aren't expected to look closely at Draper, and there won't much time for someone else to trade ahead of us.

The rewrite of the logo going SA hard and the emphasis on SA talent returning home in recent times with a very aggressive trade environment where contracts mean zilch - see the chatter on Reid to vic already - guarantees us picking Draper. Lock him in for extended years and no stress come new contract time. It’s too destabilising and has hurt us too much in the last decade. Yes he is inferior to Langford who to my eye looks all class A++ but here we are

i love it how people don't have red flags that melb and richmond aren't expected to look closely at Draper

but have all sorts of red flags about Langford

i don't think we should trade back from pick 4 though, not a time to get tricky , just pick the one we rate highest out of Draper or Langford

The move here that Ogilvie is referring to is probably a trade with Richmond to get them above Melbourne.

If we're up at 4 and Draper, Langford and Tauru are still on the board which is looking highly likely we can probably move down to 6 and still take Draper.

4 RICH Langford
5 MELB Tauru
6 ADL Draper

I reckon they'd give up something fairly decent to get Richmond supporting Langford to their club.

The same could be said for Curtin last year and clubs not picking him before us.
