It's getting ridiculous how good these Northern Academy kids coming through are....their development pathways are killing SA and WA especially the last few years. The time has to come when these clubs have to play full tote odds for their Academy players or the SA and WA clubs should be availed of a sinilar system to develop potential elite prospectsUwland just as impressive this week as he was last week.
Let's hope we will be offering him the opportunity to do the pre-season with us in 2025.It's no secret how much I love Sharp and have done for years but the things I especially love about is how well he works two ways. So often a mid is really good at finding it but not so good at the defensive side but Sharp tackles as well as anyone. His consistency is as good as I can ever remember from a junior, he very rarely plays a bad game, he may have some lower outputs but he's always at a high level. Tough, strong, works outside the contest to provide outside options, strong overhead, powerful and long kick when he wants to roost it. Inside the contest he puts his head over it with quick hands, absorbs physical contact with ease and generally at stoppages has the play read that half second ahead of his peers. When he wants to drive his legs out of congestion, he's got a strong burst, not to JHF levels, but in a more balanced level. JHF often blasts through so fast he overuns things and fumbles from time to time. Sharp for the most part is a cleaner player.
The main weaknesses I see and they are pretty small at the moment is his top end pace, his delivery inside 50 and his overall upside - he's miles ahead of his peers, but at AFL that gap will be less do we will see how much he does improve from here.
I can see him becoming at least a Ryan Griffen type of player, but probably a stronger version. He's slowed his growth atm, 188cm but if he can get to 190-192cm then he'll be quite a good size. A very long AFL career beckons and if he were available this year, I'd take him at pick 1 without hesitation. He's not gunna be as good as Harley Reid, nor probably JHF, but I'd argue he will bring a consistency to his game like we see with someone like a Serong, week in and week out. He also will easily adapt to playing different positions, is very capable at half back, inside, outside or even forward. Not a one wood Tom Mitchell type. I'd be making aggressive moves to secure his services but I'd say it's prob not going to happen. Prob be at Richmond, Norf or West Coast.
How exactyly do we arrange that, he's a Central Districts player until he's drafted.Let's hope we will be offering him the opportunity to do the pre-season with us in 2025.
I think he means the week or two the academy kids get with AFL clubs over the off-seasonHow exactyly do we arrange that, he's a Central Districts player until he's drafted.

Liked Josaia Delana's game as well. Strong defensive side to his game. I think they said he was linked to GWS.Allies overrun WA in the last quarter, even game up to then..
Allies 10.10 70
WA 7.8 50.
Top 6 possession winners on the field today all Northern Academy aligned.
Leo Lombard clearly B.O.G.and I thought Luke Urquhart best for WA, didn't mind the game of Aiden Riddle who was quite competitive in ruck against the Allies ruck Logan Smith touted as the best ruck in this draft and Malakai Champion looks to be one of the better small forwards in this draft (West Coast NGA).

It's the right time to do itThis years first, and trade next years first into it as well…hopefully before Welsh bid too
I would since it will also give us another 2nd or 3rd rounder to use as points for Welsh as well and then bank on this being a down year with a fit Murray, Thilthorpe and Pedlar back next year but this will also mean Nicks will see out his last contract year or we will get lucky and he get sack mid next year and we rise up the ladder. This years first, and trade next years first into it as well…hopefully before Welsh bid too
Highly doubt many teams will want to do that without incentiveThis years first, and trade next years first into it as well…hopefully before Welsh bid too
I hope small forward/mid Benny Barrett is on our radar inside pick 40 before Port snaffle him as an NGA.
and has that 6th sense awareness Bicks that only some possess. Knows where others - team mates and opposition are always.Jevan Phillipou is going to be joining brother Mattaes on an AFL list after next year's draft, nothing more certain...has an amaxzing hoof on him.
Welsh with his 2nd snag
Decent quality game,
Maybe…but wouldn’t it be worth it for us to provide an incentive to get a first round midfielder a year early?Highly doubt many teams will want to do that without incentive
I get it, but a team like GC would want some later picks in this year's draft (along with the F1) to match a Lombard bid... problem is, we are also another team that needs late picksMaybe…but wouldn’t it be worth it for us to provide an incentive to get a first round midfielder a year early?
I would much rather over pay a bit of draft capital and get what we need in a area of need than trying to build slowly and still fail to have the quality in the team when we need it.
Some teams may have plans to move capital into next year….Suns have plenty of draft capital again.
Hamish also basically said Wanganeen-Milera was next on our list if Josh Rachele had been taken by the Suns in that feenix67 youtube interview I posted earlier today, no doubt NWM is fully aware that we had big interest in his draft year, he also said they keep tracking players they had big interest in in past drafts. I reckon we'd be seriously putting some work into NWM and his management.I get it, but a team like GC would want some later picks in this year's draft (along with the F1) to match a Lombard bid... problem is, we are also another team that needs late picks
Also - trading our F1 would make it a lot more difficult to bring in a trade target next year, possibly someone like a NWM (though it sounds like we aren't having much success chasing players this year yet, so maybe it's a sound plan lol)
Yeah I'd imagine we're keeping in pretty constant contactHamish also basically said Wanganeen-Milera was next on our list if Josh Rachele had been taken by the Suns in that feenix67 youtube interview I posted earlier today, no doubt NWM is fully aware that we had big interest in his draft year, he also said they keep tracking players they had big interest in in past drafts. “Growing up I always was (a Saints fan) when dad played there for a couple of years, but then I sort of went to Port Adelaide,” Wanganeen-Milera says.
We would be derelict in our duty if we weren’t going hard at NWM…Hamish also basically said Wanganeen-Milera was next on our list if Josh Rachele had been taken by the Suns in that feenix67 youtube interview I posted earlier today, no doubt NWM is fully aware that we had big interest in his draft year, he also said they keep tracking players they had big interest in in past drafts.
