The 89 ranking was from Champion Data's ratings rather than the Phantom Draft. I know we bag CD a bit but it doesn't give a lot of confidence that he's actually a star.

More crucially while I think our small forward group could be better it wasn't the reason why the 2024 GF happened.

Nope, 187cm for Bowman, which means he is the pointless medium forward size. Medium forwards feel like something that is going out of fashion.

I disagree with this. As a collective, the Lions forwards slaughtered us in the GF. But I'd say it was their small-medium forwards capable of contested marks in Rayner, Ah Chee and Lohmann that especially troubled us.

Fritsch kicked 6 in a GF a few years ago. It's been small and medium forwards that have been especially damaging in Grand Finals in recent times.

Personally, I’m quite pleased with our selections - we’ve been whinging all year about not having a pressure small forward and a Lohmann-style exciting medium forward.

I still highly rated Sheldrick, he just needs to stay fit.
Roberts is a similar range to the picks from tonight.
Not many players drafted after Logan are going better from the 2020 draft.
Rowbottom was also a mid 20's pick in 2018.

These were two picks in the 20's not early firsts, and our recruiters and staff have done a brilliant job developing a list that can get to grand finals... Just that last part isn't there (and it's not for talent).

From all records Dattoli is a competitive beast and hard trainer, I look forward to him carving out a great career with the Swans.

I don't know Ned Bowman, but hell I am getting behind these two boys and supporting them.

It isn't who he is, but rather the position he plays. We don't really need a medium sized forward, but we really need a tall forward, tall defender or inside mid.

We need both and we certainly needed a small forward. I just thought we’d take the tall tonight
