Difference is Hawkins was a 198cm dominant contested marking beast who had pace off the mark and was the best player in his draft.

Welsh is a 190cm tweener who at this point hasnt shown the ability to be an up and back link type like a Zurhaar or crows Lynch and stay at home undersized forwards arent really in vogue.

Hayden Ballantyne wing. Thats an odd one

I'd be happy with Lindsay as a most likely pick, he has a lot of good attributes. Reid as a slider would be a win.

If we went tall, Shanahan would be my favourite.

If we went with a mid first, Gerreyn would be alright, unless Faull slid.

Would like Walsh with a later pick too.

Now I've said that out loud watch it all blow up :D

I wouldn't mind Reid and Gross but why we would take a tiny little bloke with our third pick escapes me.

Gross would be dissapointing if mraz went a pick before and Gerreyn went a pick later, and Dolan would be dissapointing if Barrat went a couple of picks later.

To be honest if it fell this way and we went Reid, Gerreyn, barratt and another running player with our next pick that’s about as good a draft as we could get.

I would like one of the highly touted forward midfielders with 13 (Hotton or Berry) who are class and might play next year, but not a later, speculative forward/midfielder. We may as well see whether Anastasopolous, Charleston or Barrett make it.

Our draft architecture ought to be

13 Best Available
29 Tall Defender (unless we got one at 13)
36 Ruck Forward (unless we got one at 13 or 29)
50 Best Available/slider

Hopefully round out with Rome and Benny in the rookie draft and Montgomery, Francou and Cochrane added to our SANFL list.

We do need another ready to go Tall Defender- god forbid Aliir and BZT go down with injury and Rat is our only option. Wanted Grainger-Barras as a DFA but his name is not on the list of draft nominees so I'm not sure he can be a DFA- Clurey is but not Grainger-Barras.

Not sure what our "break glass" option is down back. Walsh? Finlayson? Lukosius? Marshall? Lord? Bergman? Burton? None of those options appeal and it starts to look like Trengove in Ruck or 2022 again with a banged up McKenzie at FB.

It's going to get interesting if Lindsay and Hynes go before our pick to teams with multiple picks trying to get a variety of players or to a team that trades up to get one of those players.

Hypothetically,

If we went

13 Dattoli/Hynes
29 James Barratt
36 Kayle Gerreyn
50 Urquhart

Would you take it? Other options at 50 would be Bowman, Hargrave, Day-Wicks, Boxshall

Some would view 13 as a touch early for Dattoli/Hynes (I'm not one of them haha) but unless we have a slider out of Reid or Smilie, I think that's the way to go. As it stands I think Dattoli and Hynes are better fwd/mid prospects than Hotton or Berry. I see the latter two as pure forwards at AFL.

He was fat at the Combine. Did look pretty fit when playing.View attachment 2159911

A reminder vs Port sanfl.

Probably the most underwhelming 5-goal game highlights reel in the history of highlight reels! Besides his big kick, and size, he looks very average skills-wise! Also, that game against Port is an outlier, not many games where you will play against 22 inanimate carbon rods!
