Depends on whether or not I thought GWS would pinch him at 15. Would probably want a handshake deal prior. Would be surprised if Freo yoinked him, but it's still a risk.If Shanahan was on the board at #13 would you do the GWS trade?
We have 4 picks. The only key defender I would take prior to our third pick is Trainor. Would be happy to take him with our second. We are going tall. Key Forward/Key Defender
Scully was 204cm tall.Yes but there are much stronger bodies at AFL levels to compete against so if his competitive advantage is height and height only then it'll be an issue imo
Scully was poor overhead and had little forward craft, we took him with a late pick punt, but those who watched him a junior knew that he was poor overhead, he also came to the sport later hence his lack of craft. Whitlock is leagues ahead of him in quality and why your best quality kps come early in the draft.Scully was 204cm tall.
We cut him because he wasn't an "aggro" type of player! At least according to our forwards coach.
You'd normally allow at least 3 to 4 years development before making that kind of a call.
But ........ we are Port Adelaide, so ...
Not sure why people would think that Whitlock would be any different?
That would be some draft hand.If we do the trade with gws, I think that the ideal draft for me would be Reid, Trainor, Gerreyn and Clark. Covers all positions and a little bit of skill, power and class across them.
Expensive key forwards are overrated. Midfielders and small forwards win flags nowadays.
We are taking someone who can spend 5 minutes in the ruck. Thats why its Whitlock or Gerryn
I wouldn’t… I think it’s imperative that we take one tall and one small with our first 2 picks. How that looks I don’t know, but we need a high end player in both areas.
Clarke won't get to 50If we do the trade with gws, I think that the ideal draft for me would be Reid, Trainor, Gerreyn and Clark. Covers all positions and a little bit of skill, power and class across them.
Are you trying to make me cry?I'd take, thinking Ports priorities are tall
1. Whitlock or Shanahan OK with either.
2. Whitlock ( the other one. He's going to have to get use to that ) or Mraz.
3. Mraz or Moraes.
4. Gerreyn. This is on the assumption Dodson went between our 2nd and 3rd picks. This is on the assumption Moraes is gone.
5. Josh Dolan for nothing would be a steal for mine.
Agree I think Shanahan and Hannaford/Gross is a chance.Yep if it's Shanahan you grab him there and bank on someone like Hannaford, Gross, Urquhart, Ough, Kennedy being there at 29. Or even go tall again then and take one of those mids at 36. The talent pool is still solid then.
Mind you Twomey hasn't linked Freo with any tall, more interested in mids.
Be fascinating to see what we do if Reid is there at 13. Or Bo Allan. Cal Twomey in his last Top 30 suggested West Coast weren't as locked onto him as people think.
He's the #1 key forward now with Daniher gone. He hasn't played that role while Joe was there. Let's see how he does in that role now.Hipwood is the #1 key forward in the current premiership team and would easily get a game for us. Not sure this is the criticism it is intended to be.
Name one player we have cut in the last decade that has gone on to do anything.Scully was 204cm tall.

Riley Bonner somehow managed to play most of the season lolName one player we have cut in the last decade that has gone on to do anything.

With McEntee being elevated to the main list we only have 4 list spots left for the national draft. I doubt Dolan lasts to our pick in the Rookie draft.I'd take, thinking Ports priorities are tall

It will be another stupid trade from our club . We will neither have Berry , Shahnan or Murphy .I think I like it.
Not many clubs are interested in him . Even he will be available at even pick 21Would Hynes be gone by 16?
Richmond are very interested in him at any of their picks between 18 and 24. He's got plenty of interest with Dogs and Richmond the ones with most. Would say 23 is the latest he'll go by could also go as early as 17. If he slips to 30 that'd be a steal. Not many clubs are interested in him . Even he will be available at even pick 21
Not at all if we have the right targets. It will be another stupid trade from our club . We will neither have Berry , Shahnan or Murphy .
