Well that ain't right is it? We already traded F1 so can't trade any other futures.....Rookie Me summary of Port's draft outlook. They also suggest we can use a future pick to move up the order.
2024 AFL Draft Preview: Port Adelaide
Port Adelaide will look to remain a contender in the long-term with a pair of top 30 picks at this year's AFL Draft.central.rookieme.com

Completely missed that part, you're right. Unless there is some sort of exemption the AFL have given us that I'm unaware of? I think most of the players they've linked us to in the write-up make sense though.Well that ain't right is it? We already traded F1 so can't trade any other futures.....
For me it's Reid and Shanahan. I'm preparing to be disappointedI'm at the stage where I'd be bummed if we don't end up with Reid
I don't know any more. I believed that was the rule but I thought clubs had still managed to do it the past trade period. I included the comment because I thought these guys should be across the rule.
I think they've gotten it wrong. Unless of course AFL gave an exemption but we don't have any circumstances that warrant one and I wouldn't have missed that news!Completely missed that part, you're right. Yeah my point more so is that to most people, speed is the most important criteria in a player. Till my last day, I'll never see it that way. For me, disposal efficiency (in a positive way not backwards), ability to break tackles and ability to find space is superior. Speed is important for sure, but if someone has average speed like Hynes does, to go with the other attributes I've mentioned, they're a target for me. Especially in our midfield where we have lots of speed.
If I'm alone on this hill, so be it haha. Some of the best players in our game don't have breakaway speed
Slow at Junior level and AFL level is one up level . I am not sure how good he will be there .Big body. Not quite third tall...not quite mid. Nice mark. Contested. A bit fumbly. Almost very good but just a fraction off.
Yeah I just don't see the "slow" part mate. I think he's got average speed and many at AFL level are good enough to make things work with that average speed. I think the "slow" narrative is complete nonsense. People say the same for Reid which I also don't agree with.Being average at junior level and Afl level are two different things . If hynes is slow at junior level ,

Reid got more than average speed . He got footy attributes like Horne Francis or Butter . But for Hynes , pick -13 will be too early . He probably worth 2nd round pick .Yeah I just don't see the "slow" part mate. I think he's got average speed and many at AFL level are good enough to make things work with that average speed. Agree regarding Reid but those two have about the same speed. Pick 13 maybe early for Hynes which is why my ideal choice is to do that deal with GWS and pick him using 16 or 21. He won't slip past 24, almost sure of that.Reid got more than average speed . He got footy attributes like Horne Francis or Butter . But for Hynes , pick -13 will be too early . This is what makes it so interesting, after about 7, there is so much argument about the order. Many have there individual favourites.I haven’t seen this many options since I went to the Buckinghan Arms Smorgasbord in the 80s.
Which is why I keep saying that we need to be flexible in terms of which position we target where rather than going tall for sure with pick 13 for example. This is what makes it so interesting, after about 7, there is so much argument about the order. Many have there individual favourites.

Generally recruiters have gone with what they believe is the best talent or potential best at that first pick. At 13 the waters are murky and all us amateurs are seeing it differently. Ive come around to being open to a number of different possibilties. I think there is more consensus on the types we want for the following selections.Which is why I keep saying that we need to be flexible in terms of which position we target where rather than going tall for sure with pick 13 for example.
If it's not Shanahan at 13, then it's Gerreyn at 29, Sims at 36 if not West at 50
If its not Reid at 13, then it's Hannaford at 29 or Davis at 36 or Urquhart at 50
If it's not Trainor at 13, then it's Barratt at 29, Mraz at 36 or Dennis at 50
Then you have other options like Dattoli, Hynes, Gross, Hayes, Unwin, Bowman, Murphy, Day-Wicks, Clarke, Ough all in various stages on the draft that could be options as well
Sad, was the best smorgasbord around in the old days. You won't be doing that again

In that he has two arms and two legs. Get that out of your mind.Hynes reminds me of Andrew Moore. I liked Andrew Moore!
Ok my dream draft
Pick 13 Jobe Shanahan
Pick 29 Sam Davidson
Pick 36 Thomas Sims
Pick 50 Cody Angove.
Yeah I think from 10-25 it's a genuine toss of the coin as to where you rank players. I think Shanahan, Reid, Travaglia are early in that range because they have more runs on the board but otherwise it starts to get a bit difficult to rank like you have suggested. Like for me Hynes, Dattoli, Hotton, Hannaford, Berry, Trainor are top 20, while Lindsay, Whitlocks and even Allan for me is in that 20-30 range. But you could have it the other way around and I wouldn't be surprised because this draft is that even.Generally recruiters have gone with what they believe is the best talent or potential best at that first pick. Sam Davidson is a left field name that I didn't think would even be called out on National Draft! Interesting choiceOk my dream draft

Don't rate himHipwood is the #1 key forward in the current premiership team and would easily get a game for us. Not sure this is the criticism it is intended to be.
Fair chance you are right with Davidson but I have never been one to follow popular opinion.Sam Davidson is a left field name that I didn't think would even be called out on National Draft! Interesting choice
Fan of Angove, has some nice traits. High IQ and good ball user, in that bracket for me with Will Hayes and Rhys Unwin for a late pick (all similar types) if we can land a Hannaford, Hynes or Dattoli with pick 29.
I'll say my dream is either of these 2Ok my dream draft
