1) I think it suggests that we are looking to take maybe 3 talls in the main draft
2) Averaged 20 disposals and a goal a game at u18 level. He's an impact player rather than accumulator which is what we would like to have more of. Knows how to win his own ball and hit the scoreboard. Don't mind it
Could also help land Doug later too?

Picking Hotton would be true to our philosophy of picking guys who have slid down rankings because of injury in their draft year. He was rated as a potential top 10 and even top 5 until injured. I think our greatest list needs are classy small forward/mids, a Key Defender and a classy hbf to replace Houston, given we need to off load the underperforming Williams and the crippled Burton next year.
Key Forward is a need too but if no trades were to happen and Reid and Armstrong don't get through, is a haul of Hotton, Gerreyn, Clarke and Dennis acceptable?

Callum's mock also aligns with the previous rumour of trying to move up in the draft with Shanahan being who we want.
Or maybe it was Tauru, because I don't think until the past week, Shanahan has been touted to go that high

We have drafted a brother to help get, or keep the better brother before.
Wouldn't surprise me one bit if we rookie him.
Closer we get to draft night keener I’m getting on Lindsay. Great left foot kicker, great decision maker, good runner endurance and speed, likes to tackle. Country boy with leadership qualities, main negative his a hbf/winger.
After trading with GWS we take Whitlock or Hotton first pick, then Hannaford or Oliver 2nd.

I thought we were promising to give Jack Watkins a chance to do the pre-season with us to earn a rookie spot via the pre-season SSP. If we are being honest with him then we can't take a rookie in the List A rookie draft because we only have one list space available. It could be that Watkins, McLelland and any FS not picked in the drafts will be competeing for that final spot over the pre-season.

I agree .
Shanahan my preferred option but also very happy to take Armstrong if he has gone. If Both are gone I am happy to pick the mid that gets through to us and then go tall later.

Port probably can't go over Armstrong if he's there.
They might like Whitlock but Armstrongs body of work and the fact he's as close to a sure think as you can get makes him the percentage play.

Doug at the moment is rated as a top 5 draft pick.
We would still need to have a first round pick to get him. The way we are throwing away our first and future firsts I'd be surprised if we have one left.

Understand that but won't he won't considered as F/S or NGA (highly unlikely) regarding the latter.
Currently he's rated as a top 5 draft pick.
We would need to have a 1st rounder to try get him in a Tasmania affected draft (2026) in terms of high draft picks.
Don't like our chances at this stage considering we always trade away our future firsts.

We ended the 2024 season with a list of 38 + 5 rookies as we were allowed to take Evans in mid season draft as SPP was on long term injury list, as the maximum you can have at start of any season is 38 + 4 + 2 Cat B rookies, unless you are cellar dwellers like Norf and the Suns.
9 players have been cut/traded/retired - 1 was on the rookie list - Narkle so we went down to 30 + 4.
Traded in Lukosicous, Richards and RAtkins and have upgraded McEntee so we are at 34 + 3
We announced in July we will put basketballer Jacob Moss on Cat B Rookie list and looking at doing the same with Benny Barret as an NGA unless we have to match a bid in the national draft, so lets say we are at 34 + 3 + 2.
So that means can take a max 4 in National Draft + PSD and only 1 rookie spot.
If we take Tom Cochrane over Rome Burgoyne on the rookie list, then we are shaping up to go after his brother Doug/Douglas.

He is available in the 2026 draft. Tassie are slated to come in, in 2028 so the 2027 draft is when they get the GC and GWS type concessions and probably at end of 2026 can sign 10 or 12 x 17 year olds.
If you believe a lot of people on this board we are heading to bottom 4 in 2025 and they probably think the same in 2026.
It means Crisp and Davies doesn't trade away our 2026 1st rounder next October and maybe trade out an All Oz player and get proper returns in 2026. So its not impossible planning for him 2 years out.

Nah we won't be a bottom four side in 2025 or 26.
Possibility of a star player(s) wanting to go back to Vic may give us the right amount of currency to get Douglas. But thats a major if for now.
Happy with Tom his older brother to be on our list. Just didn't expect it considering we had both Rome and Louie either of whom could of taken that 1 rookie list spot.

Has a genuine 50m kick for goal at 17. That has to be an attraction.
Wouldn't mind Gross at 36 if he's there, looks a tough ball winner who can go forward.
We could even go tall again at 50 with West or Nicholls or look at a speedy small forward like Angove.
Tom Cochrane is a genuine breakaway from stoppages clearance mid and can go forward, could do some handy grunt work.
Every chance Twoomey’s Phantom is his worst ever. With a group of clubs having multiple picks in R1, their incentive to send out false smoke signals is greater than ever. And those clubs like us who have only one R1 pick, have equal incentive to lie about their intentions so Richmond think they can get X mid first round and don’t take him before 13.
The Cochrane thing also sounds like BS. We have long valued U16 form where Montgomery and Rome excelled very highly. I don’t recall any mention of Cochrane as a ND chance before tonight.
Addy- if we trade down from 50-70, we could match a bid for Benny Barret with 70. That actually reduces anyone’s incentive to bid on him at 50-69 making him more chance of slipping to us in the rookie draft, which is our best result as it gives us an extra list spot. Wouldn't affect a play for Doug one iota.
Selecting a KPF with our 1st means Marshall is probably cooked & confirming the Rat trade as a monumental disaster.
