Not a great game but the realistic alternative was probably a blowout, over midway through Q2.

A job well done, 15 years in the making. Emma Kearney the 2nd AFLW premiership captain to come out of the Melbourne Uni WFC stable.

Epic Season From The Roos!!🎉
Undefeated & Unequaled..
but Unfortunately we were stuck only hearing about Poort's 8-in-a-row here in S.A 😮‍💨
Based on the results..the comps severely compromised currently.

Doesn't look good but match time equals 8 minutes into the third quarter of an AFL match.
If you applied the same time-on rules for the men, this years grand final score was Brisbane Lions 60 to Sydney Swans 40.
- The clock only stops for goals or major injuries except for the last 2 minutes which is the same as the men.

1.3.9 is Brisbane's second lowest AFLW score, equal with R1 2022 S6 vs Adelaide (who kicked 6.3.39 just like NM tonight). They've also got the 2 lowest scores in AFLW Grand Finals now, and a 2-4 record.

Although Dakota Davidson attracts the attention for her stinker tonight, Taylor Smith surely just had the worst ever 3-game finals series by an All-Australian:

Selectors once again sucked in by a downhill skier. Should've been Wardlaw as the CHF, with Moloney pushed to FF. And a true small forward in the starting 16 might've been a bright idea, as reiterated by O'Loughlin's performance.

On the other hand, you get a Sarah Wright who played the last few weeks like somebody who was buoyed by her AA squad selection.

In the men's the clock literally stops whenever the ball goes out of bounds, and whenever the whistle is blown.

In terms of other Grand Final records, Phillips still has the most kicks (26 in 2017), Mia King most clearances (13 in 2023), Hodder most tackles (18 in 2023), Hatchard most metres gained (600 in 2022).

But Garner wasn't too far off in those categories, in addition to setting a new disposals record:

Anybody remember this scoop:

...followed by 3 GFs with 7k, 12k and 12k sellouts in QLD and Princes Park. So I'm gonna have to say you just made that up, Mr. Rooch. SA journo trying to confabulate "Vicco bias" sentiment with fabricated information? Surely not!

As with this year, the best chance of a near-future GF in front of 40k will probably be dictated by Geelong's fortunes. Maybe a much better shot in 2025 since the Cats will get a soft draw, having just finished 10th with injuries while avoiding defeat against both Grand Finalists.

I reckon Alice took being put on the bench personally, and it translated into her game.

We beat Adelaide twice and thrashed Brisbane twice, yet somehow both teams ended up with more All-Australian players. Yes, we are a more even team, perhaps a more talented team and with a superior gameplan, but I still find it hard to justify the lack of North Melbourne representation considering how the season finished and the history that was made.

One aspect here missed is its clear as day that North Melbourne are absolutely miles ahead of anyone else. If Brisbane didnt try to flood back to make the scoreline respectable it would have been a 10+ goal thrashing.

AFLW lacks equalisation measures and because of that I think you are going to see the same teams on top for a very very long time. North will legit when the next 3 flags without breaking a sweat for example
