One aspect here missed is its clear as day that North Melbourne are absolutely miles ahead of anyone else. If Brisbane didnt try to flood back to make the scoreline respectable it would have been a 10+ goal thrashing.

AFLW lacks equalisation measures and because of that I think you are going to see the same teams on top for a very very long time. North will legit when the next 3 flags without breaking a sweat for example
hey, from your mouth to god's ears

Anybody remember this scoop:

...followed by 3 GFs with 7k, 12k and 12k sellouts in QLD and Princes Park. So I'm gonna have to say you just made that up, Mr. Rooch. SA journo trying to confabulate "Vicco bias" sentiment with fabricated information? Surely not!

As with this year, the best chance of a near-future GF in front of 40k will probably be dictated by Geelong's fortunes. Maybe a much better shot in 2025 since the Cats will get a soft draw, having just finished 10th with injuries while avoiding defeat against both Grand Finalists.

Probably more to do with the way the AFL has spent the last few years, ****ing around with the schedule for when the AFLW will even play that they've ended up booking out Marvel for other uses when the AFLW GF falls.

It was already booked on the weekend of the 22 S7 GF for a Bieber concert when Rucci made that statement.

2025 will be the 4th year in a row where the GF will be held in very late Nov / very early Dec. So I think it's safe to say the date is settled, which nevertheless prrrrobably won't make the slightest difference regarding Marvel's availability.

Probably the biggest difference between H&A and finals form this year was the dip from Sophie Conway. Hurt her shoulder late in R10 v St Kilda, but it doesn't really fly as an excuse when you're still out there talking trash like you're King Shit.

Grider and Koenen played some shockers at terrible times this year. So in terms of their standout defender in 2024, again I'd single out Jennifer Dunne (whose name was erroneously called by TV commentary when Hartill dropped an easy mark at halfback during Q1 on Saturday).

Ally Anderson is only 30 (turns 31 in March), and Dawes still has 2 years left on her contract, so we'll likely see plenty more of Brisbane at the pointy end, even while another inaugural heart-and-soul type in Lutkins has been pushed out the door Wuetschner-style as predicted.

As mentioned on page 2, undefeated all the way through and a % of 300+ is in the realm of Daisy's Darebin Falcons... you know, back in the days of the wonderfully equitable VWFL, before the AFL came along and ruined it all by inventing one-sided matches.

Correcting the plodder-overloaded backline particularly with Kearney and O'Shea, and developing some genuine toughness through the likes of Mia King and Vikki Wall are the biggest reasons for the progression in the above table.

But they've also had a vital boost from picks in the 13-28 range from 3-4 years ago who are coming good now which for some of them, especially Tess Craven, meant a lot of hard yards at VFLW level first.

To elaborate on something pointed out in another thread, the curious case of Conway extends into Awards Season:

Fellow Lions evidently weren't thrilled with her second All-Australian season, in which she kicked a wayward 12 goals 14 behinds. Missed top 3 in the teammate-voted AFLPA MVP nominations in favour of Charlotte Mullins who kicked 4 straight and had twice as many goal assists. Not hard to figure out the logic there.

Amy Smith became North Melbourne's first father-daughter selection to win an AFLW premiership.

Has there been any other father-daughters to win an AFLW Premiership?
