Here are all the major bullet points that I could think of right now:

Big picture

The Kangaroos are looking to continue the leaguewide post-2020 streak, wherein GF losers go on to win the GF in the following year.

The Lions are attempting to go back-to-back. Yet to be achieved by any club in AFLW. This is the first time the reigning premiers have even made the GF.

Both clubs are also vying to achieve multi-league firsts. North will be looking to pull off the VFLW/AFLW double. Brisbane: the AFL/AFLW double.

NM are aiming to be the first undefeated AFLW premiers.

BL are aiming to join Adelaide as the club with the most AFLW premierships (3).

This will be the first instance of a Grand Final in which both teams plus venue are a repeat of any previous Grand Final.

This will be the 2nd time, following Adelaide/Brisbane, in which two clubs have met in multiple AFLW Grand Finals.

NM v BL Head-to-Head

Overall H2H record:
1-5
H2H in finals: 0-1

22S6 R9: BL def NM by 36 points @ Mission Whitten Oval
2021 R8: BL def NM by 15 points @ The Gabba

North’s only other losing H2H record is vs Melbourne (3-6).

Brisbane’s 44-point loss this year was their heaviest-ever defeat vs any club.

I'm expecting North to win this time but us to be competitive. Last year's GF being in the afternoon gave us a huge sporting advantage because while that day as probably the hottest day in Melbourne in the past two weeks or so (felt like it anyway), our girls would have been training in much hotter and humid conditions almost every day for the past two-three months before that. Even at three quarter time I was confident we'd run over them.

We won't have the same advantage this time around even if it was a day game considering the last two weeks or so have had a few hot days.

Didn’t help we were down a rotation all game with Bruton injured

I think the game will be more similar to round 1

Our 3 big inclusions from the grand final Vikki wall, birch and Tripodi have made us a much better side

Possibly rain will be a factor too, its early days but there is some expected over the coming week.

Has the potential to be a high scoring Grand Final, North Melbourne is the highest scoring team (in a single season) in AFLW history and Brisbane is the fourth.

1. North Melbourne 2024 - 113.94.772
2. Adelaide 2023 - 110.89.749
3. Melbourne 2023 - 100.107.707
4. Brisbane 2024 - 98.111.699
5. Hawthorn 2024 - 95.108.678

And if Brisbane win on Saturday...

Youngest to play in 3 premierships
Dawes 23y 203d
Hatchard 24y 33d
Grider 24y 51d
Hickie 24y 131d

S. Allan 24y 141d
Marinoff 24y 145d
+ Hodder 24y 145d
Ellenger 24y 271d
T. Smith 24y 291d

Choices for cup presenter to hopefully honour the history of women's football. Rather than just plucking Jack Ziebell out of the crowd.

Michelle Dench. Marlo Brack. These kind of people. Julia Price will probably be in town, regardless of the AFL likely being too cheap to fly anybody in from Brisbane.

Brisbane spluttered through last season's H & A and I had a inkling the Roos would take care of them in the GF.
Similar plot-line this year in that we have been somewhat unconvincing whereas as North have looked relentless
and very much resolved on settling an issue.
Could very well be a pantsing akin to round 1 but the Brisbane girls are impressively resilient and just to seem to find a way to work back into contests.
We do need the early season Conway back. Seems to be a bit out of sorts and largely anonymous since she pinged her shoulder a few weeks back.
Won't totally begrudge the Roos if they snare the Cup this time as Garner, King, Bruton and Kearney are arriving at the career stage of potentially slowing-down and copping injuries and may not get another crack.
Nothing is guaranteed.
Hope the weather forecast is a bit overbaked.

Crickets out of AFL House but tickets haven't been available for several hours now.

Cricket would be your best chance of seeing live women's GF sport this weekend if you haven't already got a seat booked for the footy. Won't be any capacity issues over at the MCG, and the entry fee is half the price of the AFLW.
