Georgie Prespakis will be a test for the Week 5 clash against Hawthorn.

After missing the previous two games, midfielder Georgie Prespakis will be a test to play against the Hawks on Thursday night at GMHBA Stadium.

Geelong Cats Assistant General Manager – Football Brett Johnson says the Club is confident that Prespakis will return to face Hawthorn.

"Georgie will participate in full training this evening, and if all goes well, we anticipate that she’ll be ready for our upcoming match against the Hawks,” Johnson said.

After having surgery on her toe, Chloe Scheer is back in at the Club, with a timeline on her return to be confirmed.

“It is great to have Chloe back in at the Club and around the team. As Chloe continues to progress over the next couple of weeks, we’ll have a clearer idea regarding her expected return date.”

The Cats AFLW team returns to Geelong with GMHBA Stadium to host two blockbuster match-ups in the next seven days. Be there as Geelong takes on Hawthorn this Thursday, followed by a Tuesday night showdown with the Dockers!

This is shocking from Carlton - played out of their skins against us, and then this against North

You can call it shocking from Carlton, sure. Or you can call out how pathetic it was from us to get torched by what is a clearly mediocre team.

It seemed like a monumentally atrocious performance from us at the time. And so it has proved.

I think the Melbourne and Carlton games could bite us on the bum. The Dees haven't exactly set the world on fire...we're the only team they've beaten.

They both look really bad losses. Losing at home against what looks a middling team was certainly not great. And any loss to Carlton at this point in time is pretty indefensible for this group.

I meant the lack of defensive effort from Carlton in that passage was shocking - the fact that two North players were running into an open goal with no pressure, had time to fumble the ball before being able to pick it up and then handball to an open teammate in the goal square, was extremely poor from a Carlton perspective

Our effort against Carlton wasn't great, and the loss against Melbourne was frustrating from the position we were in - I'd rate that one as the worse loss of the two

But then when looking across the league this season, North is a clear standout, while Adelaide & Richmond are also looking solid, and then there's a lot of teams who all look around a similar level, with that group including us

Tonight we play Hawthorn who've had commanding wins over Carlton, Collingwood & St Kilda, but also comfortably beaten by Adelaide. Out of those wins for Hawthorn, they beat St Kilda by 57 and if we go back to week 1, St Kilda beat GC by 54 and we just beat GC by 69

With teams not yet playing each other in a season, it can be hard to get a full read on where teams really sit in the pecking - we're seeing teams win by 50pts one week and then lose by that margin the next week, so maybe we've got lot of mediocre teams?

So I think we've got a clear favourite (a team we drew with & we're also the only team who they've trailed at any stage this season), a couple a teams below them, and then a large number of teams on the next set of rungs & on any given day they can make other teams look silly, while also being made to look silly themselves. And then at the bottom of the ladder, we've got a few teams that are really struggling - GC is the only one of those teams we face this season, so well done to anyone who plays two or three of GC, Bulldogs & Collingwood, as they are currently looking most off the pace

I wonder if the conditions played a role in our performance against Carlton, and that our team is better equipped in the dry than in the wet. It was bucketing down all game against Carlton and we were trying to play dry weather footy and were punished for it. Was similar to the Collingwood game last season too.

I gather that's exactly what we did. Tried to play dry weather footy when it was absolutely throwing it down. And didn't really change our approach for the entire game.

Monumentally stupid and naive, I would have thought.
