The AFL itself has also rightly come into criticism for the scheduling and the impact that's had on teams with the reduced breaks between matches over the past 3 weeks - there's hope that last night's match is the nail in the coffin for attempting similar next season
Last night wasn't good, but the over reaction to it is something crazy - two weeks ago we lose to Hawthorn in the 2nd highest scoring match across AFLW history, we kicked the highest losing score in league history, with the match highly praised & called the best AFLW match
After last night, there's now a lot of criticism thrown at the game and back to the old suggestions of:
I get wanting to see an increased scores across the league, but there's got to be some responsibility on the teams playing & coaching tactics to make positive tweaks rather than simply being happy for low scoring matches
I'm thinking of our clashes with North as an example - they're normally a team that can score pretty freely, but against us it seems that the games become this really congested affair & they're happy to lock it down rather than open the game up
Against Essendon at Warrnambool last year, we kicked out to an early lead and then they started playing an extra behind the ball - they were happy to try scoring on the rebound if it meant it was harder for us to find space when going forward
It's why our clash with Hawthorn was highly rated - two teams that kept attacking all night, the game was open and free flowing which allowed for the high scoring. It also showed that playing on an AFL sized ground allows for higher scoring matches when teams play a positive style
If there's a frustration about the amount of stoppages & congestion on the current grounds used, what do they think will happen on smaller grounds when it's going to be easier to lock it in without the space available on larger grounds

- need to play on smaller grounds
- reduce the players on the field (they already play with 16 on the field)
- introduce a 7-6-5 (attack, mid & defence) at all ball ups... Not sure how this one is meant to work
