For those unaware, we've also gone into today without our forwards coach - Rohan suffered a fractured skull in yesterday's VFL match and has been in hospital with surgery required

Wonder how much his absence is being felt, even with those little instructions or tweaks we see during the match

Wow, this has been some second half comeback, regardless of the final result.

EDIT: good goal kicking helps. We've gone from 1.6 to 5.6.

Back-to-back frustrating results; we could be 2-0 with strong wins against good teams, instead our lack of composure and some poor execution (particularly kicking into the F50) leaves us without a win in 2024.

We outworked North for a lot of this game, but they were far more efficient going forward and it cost us.

Georgie P had her quietest game in some time, she looked hampered and wasn't able to work her way in to the contest.

Aishling Moloney has had a tough start to the year, she's looked frustrated at times and hasn't found the same sparkle she showed in her debut season, nonetheless she stuck at it and started to have an impact in the 2nd half.

Shelley Scott has shown she has skill and nous in her time at Geelong, but I'm not sure we can field all of her, Aishling, Kate Kenny, Jackie Parry and Chloe Scheer (when she returns) in the one F50.

We really need a bit more forward pressure to lock it in; we get the ball into the F50 easily enough (although rarely cleanly) but it just as often pings out with little pressure on the opposition's defense.

I had a crack at both Darcy Moloney and Kate Surman last week, pleasing to see both hit back strongly with vastly improved performances today.

Best players: C. Gunjaca, A. McDonald, M. Bowen, Z. Friswell

Norf should feel lucky. Rub of the green with umps all game - two goals kicked then denied in first quarter - plus 16 frees to 10, was 8-2 early on. We can play a lot better and need to keep improving; found a couple but still a couple who aren’t yet up to it. Gonna be a tough season but look forward to progress. Please, no Shelley Scott next week

Would've loved to see them review that play on the goal line where the ball looked like it was touched over the line. I thought they had technology in the ball to determine stuff like that. Ridiculous it wasn't used then.

The umpires need to pay more throws and dropping the ball to keep the game moving.
They can't really or the game would become painfully stagnant. The ball handling and basic skills just aren't there yet. Some of the women have good skills but a lot do not. Half the handballs are throws.

They do and they used it in the earlier match between GC & Carlton

When they do use it, there's no footage shown or even verbal discussion of what's been looked at - it's reviewed wherever the tech people are & result relayed to the field umpire

Hanging for Scheer to return. Friz needs to be reminded of both her strengths and her weaknesses. Not overly skilled, but can run run run. Gotta use it better like we were able to last year. Bowen looking good and Moloney getting her groove. Loved Amac as always

What is it that Scott says - it's not who you play but when you play them...

Last week Melbourne had something to prove, especially with questions asked about their preparation & Harris going to the Olympics etc

If we instead started against say the Bulldogs, we may have got our season off to a stronger start and taken a bit of momentum into today

But want to credit how we went today - we had been keeping up with North across the first half until the last couple of minutes, when they kicked a couple of late goals. It would have been easy to drop our heads and we've seen that happen in the past - instead, we came out strong after halftime, fought back strongly and didn't give North the time or space they had in the first half

The way we responded was a real positive today and gives us something to work with moving forward

Another thing, and I said this last week too, is that we didn't fade out in the 2nd half today like we had for most of last season. Yet another step forward.

We've had to play two of the perennial powerhouses in the first two weeks, and have a deficit of -2 points against them.

The Bowen goal was clutch. Would be nice to have two more premiership points from the two games but at least we are showing we are competitive with the top sides (again).

I meant free kicks for dropping the ball and throwing, so it doesn’t stagnate with endless ball ups and scrums.
Not that it doesn’t happen with the men but they have more power to clear the ball.

Yeah, that was a real positive, not just last season though. We've only won once when behind at three quarter time in our entire history, and that was in our very first match.
At least we can say we didn't lose after being behind at three quarter time today.

There is a lot to like about that game. Geelong clearly the better side, north had everything go their way. 2 x disallowed goals, twice the ball bounced directly on its point when it was heading through for a goal. No love at all from the umps. Would have been travesty if we lost that game.

It only needs a few things to turn and we will be right in this season. Midfield was dominant, defence was very solid.

Scheer and kearns back in (and a fit Georgie) would make a big difference.

Keep the faith, we are a very dangerous team.
