Umps have been a joke ... again. Our coaching has been a joke... again.

Umpires yes

But Lowther? Totally disagree on questions around him for today's performance

Our biggest issues today were in front of goal and failing to convert - he's not out there taking those shots on goal and kicking behinds

How about we stop taking unnecessary pot shots at the coach - same thing happens with Scott when the boys don't go so well... At some stage the responsibility has to fall on the players to actually step up when out on the field

Yep, nail 5 of the 14 behinds we have and this turns into an easy win. Did everything but put it on the scoreboard. The last quarter felt like we were protecting the lead after Lingy kicked the first of the quarter.

Scott in the second quarter, Bowen & Pres in the third should have definitely nailed their chances

Then there's the miss by Bowen in the second quarter from the goal square and not sure what happened there

I'm tempted to add Parry's first miss to start the match to that but with the first kick of the match at a new venue it can be hard to know how the wind is playing, so I'll give her some leeway

We definitely had more than enough chances to have that game iced at 3/4 time but just didn't take them - match review tomorrow will be interesting as there's a bit too take from our

What did the coaching group do to get our best player involved in the game? What have they done to fix the problem of a slow, awkward defence (mainly Meg Mac, who must be found a position in the forward half). Yes, goalkicking is a coach killer, but this group is better than two and a half wins.

And with better accuracy in front of goal, we likely have more than 2.5 eins

From 7 matches this season, we've only had a positive goal to behind ratio in 3 of them:
  • week 1 loss to Melbourne
  • week 4 win over GC
  • week 5 loss to Hawthorn

We kicked ourselves out of last week's match when we were on top of Fremantle and inaccuracy nearly cost us today, and with better accuracy we could easily have beaten North

As for what our coaches have done in regards to our best players - we've got Pres, Morrison & Webster playing up on the ball, with that Webster move not held back until the last quarter like recent matches

But again, what's the coach meant to do when your normally reliable players like Wester & Bowen shit the bed with their decision making, both running themselves into trouble multiple times this match, while Bowen's had a couple of poor matches disposal wise

We then moved Parry behind the ball to provide additional marking power - do they get a tick for that?

And moving the captain forward won't solve anything and instead create more headaches as we're already struggling for coverage in defence, nevermind that she was a former forward who made the move to defence. We're also not lacking for options up forward, so trying to squeeze a player in there unnecessarily, especially with Scheer expected to return soon, really doesn't help anyone. The better option for McDonald would be up simplify her game with ball in hand and a similar approach to what we saw with Lonergan

It's not like we've got some a-grade defender waiting in the wings to replace McDonald down back

We also need to remember that today was our 4th match in 15 days, we were down to 24 fit players for today - there's a good chance that the past couple of weeks have been about management, recovery & backing the system, rather than trying to get to funky in changing up tactics in what's likely to be one training session between matches
