No surprise.

Hard for her to be a regular starter in our midfield and is the most expendable with strong trade value.

Edmonds would be a fantastic get, but if that’s not possible I hope we have another iron or two in the fire.

I just hope we are aggressive in chasing players this trade period.
Yes we need to trade in a Ruck.

List change announcement

A couple not necessarily unexpected, one maybe slightly unexpected and one 😿

I'm hoping with the news of Pearce being delisted/not offered a new contract, that we've got at least one ruck in pipeline come trade period

I don't think I can understate how bad Pearce was. She won hit outs in the VFLW against undersized oppositions, literally nothing more.

Anna Rose had a solid back end of the season! That's buggered! oh well, it's always the risk with the irish - hopefully she returns in 2026

Disappointing about Anna-Rose, but family does come first. Not sure I agree with Lilly being delisted either, but I guess the list managers have a ruck or two in line to replace her.

She took time off to explore as a career as a fire fighter in the air force - I'm sure we're giving her time to fully explore that career path
yeah, that one, would be shocked to see her back.

We will have Caitie Tipping joining us (i believe so anyway) who is like 6'3, but I would hope we are not putting all the eggs in that basket ruck-wise.

Early trade news suggests we're interested in Alice Edmonds from the Bulldogs - she's currently contracted, but that gives an indication we're looking at options to bring in a ready made ruck

surely feels like a big ask though?

This is what's been suggested in terms of interest - if there's interest from only one team then I understand it being seen as ambitious, but with interest from 3 teams, she must be seen as a gettable option

Western Bulldogs ruck Alice Edmonds has interest from West Coast, Geelong and the Giants, but is contracted through to 2026 with the Dogs steadfast in their belief she will stay at the club.

What's Liv Barber up to these days? ;)

After being delisted by Collingwood, I haven't heard much about her

Apparently she was on the Box Hill Hawks list this season, but didn't play a game. Not sure if that was due to injury or not though.

I know that when discussion AFL, we talk about how talls often take longer to develop after being drafted - they can go from looking like a man-child against boys to now being the boy against men

I think it's something that can be even more pronounced in the women's game, where the young talls that are lightly framed can look really young against those who've had a few more years in the system, and potentially a bit stronger through the upper body

It's not to say that young talls can't have an impact early in their careers, but maybe we've got to be mindful that they may need a few years of development, time working with the coaching staff & physios to build the strength in their bodies etc

And this then relates back to an above post about list sizes not increasing, because clubs may not be willing to hold onto a 20/21yr old tall who is potentially still 2 years from that breakout season (so closer to that 22/23 sort of age that Scratcher Neale turned this year), with list spots being so tight. Increasing list sizes to 33-35 could potentially open to the opportunity to stick with developing players, retain a player out with an ACL etc, rather than them being cut because you can't afford them taking up a list spot who may be able to play from round 1 the next season

And this may be where clubs need to trust drafting a 22/23yr tall who's spent a few years developing in the VFLW in that they may be more ready to step up at AFLW level, then simply drafting 18/19yr olds to see what they offer
