If this is at all true it poses an interesting question for the Bombers, whether to trade out their first or stay put. It's the first I've seen that he may get bid on before it.6. Isaac Kako
Calder Cannons/Vic Metro
Forward, 175cm, 7/3/2006
Talent League stats (avg): 18.7 disposals, 1.7 goals, 7.7 score involvements
The Age’s August top 30: 12
Essendon may need to match a high opposition bid on their NGA prospect, with Melbourne strongly considering the dangerous small forward – or are they playing games with the Bombers? Either way, Kako, whose parents were born in Iraq, is considered a top-10 lock after a brilliant national under-18 championships. There should be no hesitation taking a sub-180cm goalsneak with Kako’s ability this high after Nick Watson’s impressive debut season. Kako is powerful, and has a knack for creating scoring opportunities and kicking audacious goals from seemingly hopeless situations. He can improve defensively, but can impact the game beyond the forward 50.
Those bottom two names I've mentioned before, I think we should have interest in both later on. Hayes as a wing/half forward type and Clarke as a medium defender that pushed into the midfield after the carnival when he wasn't injured. Both have lots of upside.
South Australian defender Angus Clarke and Claremont's Will Hayes both registered times of 6:16 minutes, while Hamish Davis did the endurance test in 6:18 minutes.
Cody Angove and Jasper Alger, who both ran 6:28, and Adrian Cole (6:24) were among the other strong performers in the test, which was broken into groups and completed at Collingwood's AIA Centre.
Alger unsurprisingly also up there in the top 5
Good to see Angove up there as well. A fair few interesting names in there.
While they're Americanising everything else they leave the combine and majority of pre draft activities uncovered. I'd say this is the only part of American sports culture I'd actually wat to copy. The AFL website has been so poor for coverage over the draft, really wish they’d up their game. Hasn’t really improved since I started it watching it years & years ago
Alger with the speed/endurance combo we have seemed to like in the past few drafts
If we are after gold coasts pick 13, I wonder who we have in mind for it
Expecting someone to slide perhaps..or bolt

Was Lachlan Smith considered a bolter at the time? I know he was a relatively low pick but don’t remember seeing him on any boards leading up to the draft. When was the last time we picked a bolter?
I believe Naughton was bit of a bolterWhen was the last time we picked a bolter?
If we’re going outside the first round then I don’t think Harvey Gallagher was on any radars. Happy to have him thoughWas Lachlan Smith considered a bolter at the time? I know he was a relatively low pick but don’t remember seeing him on any boards leading up to the draft.
Depends what you mean by a bolter. Pretty much everybody - Twomey, Knightmare, Landsberger, Fox, Anderson (SEN) and Elliott (The Roar) - had Naughton going at pick 9 which is where we took him.I believe Naughton was bit of a bolter
Bontempelli to
The year we took Weightman I remember we wanted Pickett but Melbourne took him just before us
We had the two years where we took Darcy & JUH
So maybe we are due?
This may be the worst draft haul of all time

While on the subject of the 2017 draft, all of them except Knightmare also had Ed Richards at 10 (Carlton's pick) which is now looking like a pretty good call. Knightmare had him at pick 14.
We got him at pick 16. A good draft for us. Our only other pick was a free swing at pick 74 (Callum Porter).
