I've got no idea that's why I asked. It was Gardiner they swung forward last time but he's out for the year
That makes two of us. We’ll have our hands full with Joe and Eric. Backline has been tight the last two weeks. Let’s hope they’ve figured something out. I don’t mind a bit of John Deutschendorf but Country Roads can get a rest for 1 night.😀

Is TDK or Pitto the better match for Oscar McInerney?

If TDK is fit we’ll have to play both, no way Tom could play anywhere near a full game after being out for 7 weeks

But if TDK is over his injuries then he has to play, no ressies to get form and fitness

Against which other finalist would TDK play solo? Bulldogs or Hawks? We won't meet them until GF

Orazio stays in the team as far as I'm concerned, in a game where we scored 11 goals he scored one and had a hand in two others. He contributed.

I'd drop Motlop, Durdin, Owies and Carrol before considering dropping him.

Bring Harry, Charlie, Gov and Williams in.

The **** did Owies do? Missed that..

Edit - saw the video. He’s getting a week for sure. Both arms pinned. Forward momentum. Head hits turf.

But I’m not sure how else you are meant to tackle and stop the player from disposing of the ball in that position.. but the AFL don’t seem to care.. protect the head at all costs.

Watch the way Cripps tackles - goes under the radar but he's the best tackler in the league.

Always finds a way to pin the arms and either slide the player back towards him or roll him perfectly no matter how much speed or momentum he has, or the size of the player he's tackling. There needs to be a little segment on OTC or 360 about it because it's bloody impressive.

I assume it's been worked out and I've just missed it in this thread but for us to make the GF, it looks like our frequent flyer miles would add up.

In all likelihood it would be:

Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and then Melbourne.

At our best form that would be doable but currently?

Best Case Scenario:

We beat Brisbane
Geelong Beat Port Adelaide

We beat Sydney/GWS in Sydney

We beat Geelong at MCG in Prelim.

We win Grand Final.

Yeah even the returning players who are "right to go" are still gonna be nowhere near match fit, coming in to play in a crunch away elimination final. And we'll have about 5 of them
Ironically both Curnow and McKay could be playing better than their last few outings because they are now over their niggles with the extended rest.

In terms of who should come in for Brisbane, I have Curnow, McKay, McGovern as definite, Williams a definite maybe, and Cerra/Martin/Boyd as just a maybe. That last group I am not convinced by because of propensity for injury or their average form prior to their injury.

I dont expect TDK to be ready by next Friday

As for who comes out, the only absolute is I think Durdin (because injured), otherwise I think the other players who have come in, namely Binns and Lord, have shown enough to be retained.

More clear on my ins than exclusions tbh

TDKs about the only one who would significantly struggle. The rest have had an extended freshen up

I personally wouldn’t be playing Cez and definitely not Martin

I would like to make the argument that with the emergence of Kemp as a second/third tall option and the inclusion of young…

We do not need a lot of backup for TDK. Nor is there really a role for him as a forward. If he can get enough 69 percent of the game it’s all in the ruck. Harry and Young cover the other bits. We won’t be as exposed with Charlie and kemp up forward if Harry goes in the ruck.

Brisbane will try and explode our pace. Pitto is the number one culprit. TDK is the number one antidote.

4 changes MAXIMUM

IN: McKay, Curnow, McGovern, Williams (the last two have dodgy bodies so no Martin!!!!)

OUT: Young (unlucky), Durdin (inj), Owies (probably suspended), one of Binns, Lord, Carroll

Motlop one last chance!!!!

Fantasia and Williams are given the job of being Motlop's coach on the ground

Kemp MUST remain the 3rd tall up forward...he allows Curnow and McKay the freedom to come up the ground while still having a marking target forward on turnover. Also allows another marking fwd when McKay in the ruck

On paper Young should be a good matchup for Hipwood. He's been pretty good defensively lately...sill shaky with ball in hand but if he can shut Hipwood out I'll take that.

Lions midfield is humming along , the addition of Ashcroft is noticeable.
If they’re unchecked and supply Joe, Eric & Charlie too , it will be a very tough game.

The Big O monstered both our rucks in the Prelim and was a big factor in them winning. Need to play both if fit at this stage. Not good news for Kemp.
