According to the report we would have a Home game in Round 1 to unfurl the flag and then Round 2 would be v St Kilda at the G but as their home game.

The plan to play back to back in Qld may be shunted to next year as we would only have room for the Brisbane game if the Herald Sun is correct (there’s a first time for everything).

I have a Feeling we will be versing Geelong to Unfurl the flag.

There‘s not many teams it could be. Can’t be Richmond, Carlton, Essendon or St Kilda and Melbourne seem unlikely. Only really leaves Geelong and Hawthorn.

Will definitely be Geelong or Melbourne.

Can't be any of the other Big 4, and all the other Vic teams aren't 'big' or won't be played Friday night R1 as the AFL will want a close game

Get the interstate sides away early looks OK to me. Besides we have always travelled well.

Hopefully we will get a Fri night or Sat arvo 1st weekend of games in Melbourne at the G to do the premeirship celebrations.

But if AFL wanting to kick the season off early in NSW and QLD to compete with NRL, then it will be great exposure for the Pies.
Sat arvo games are rubbish. I'd wager half of our membership base are involved in some kind of local footy. Don't make them choose.

Sat arvo games are the bees knees. Sunshine, no lights and the chance to do something on Saturday night rather than listen to BT.

You should ALWAYS choose Collingwood Home games at the 'G, there is no decision-making required.

Dont think we'll verse them in round 1 two years in a row. Melb or hawks is my guess; the drama factor for each one lol
Are we due for a Home KB game next year which would then rule Melbourne out for Round 1. I am thinking Hawks as my guess.

Sydney? lol I thought they'd want a vic club lol

New Swans Taylor Adams and Brodie Grundy could be drawn to take on their former Collingwood teammates when the Magpies unfurl their premiership flag in round 1.
The latest version of the AFL’s 2024 fixture has Collingwood slated to host the Swans at the MCG in the second week of the new season, reuniting Adams against his former side for the first time since his shock trade last month.

It will be the second game of the new season for both sides who are set to feature in the league’s ‘Round Zero’ opening weekend most likely on March 8-9 in the northern states.

As this masthead revealed on Wednesday, the league wants to follow the four-game opening weekend in Queensland and Sydney with a full nine-game round 1 including three MCG blockbusters.

The Magpies want a big home game in round 1 to unfurl their premiership flag and celebrate their swelling fan base at a packed-out MCG, most likely on Friday night, March 15.

It promises to be an emotional meeting for former Collingwood vice-captain Adams who missed the grand final win over Brisbane Lions this year with a heartbreaking hamstring injury.

Adams, 30, was understandably in tears after the premiership win after failing a fitness test days out from the grand final.

He will be highly motivated to perform against his old side in the second week of the new season after being poached by the Swans on a three-year deal to lead the bolstered engine room in 2024.

The Swans requested more prime-time MCG games as part of their 2024 fixture after only five regular season games at the home of football over the past two years.

The Magpies are set to play in ‘Round Zero’ against GWS Giants (GS), Sydney Swans (MCG) in round 1, St Kilda (MCG) round 2, Brisbane (Gabba) round 3, Gather Round in South Australia in Round 4 before a bye.

The Swans secured Grundy and Adams to help beef-up their contested ball work and return to the finals after sliding out of the eight on the back of a 2022 grand final loss to the Cats.

Grundy is set to face his former Melbourne teammates in ‘Round Zero’ at the SCG as part of the four-game northern-states extravaganza.

It kind of makes sense to have the 4 prelim teams play each other the first round. Never makes sense for the two teams that finish the end of the season play teams that finish 4 weeks before them and get a head start.

Surely we can request, and be granted, a home game against the filth to unfurl our flag.
Got the knife in up to the hilt. I wanna twist it!

We don’t have to unfurl the flag in round one.
I’m asking for an early round, 2, 3 or 4.
Has to be our first home game. Whenever that is. We're backlogged, with saints (their home game) in round 2, Lions round 3, Gather round, round 4, Bye, Round 5 is a chance, anzac day - round 6

But I do like your thoughts, it would be nice if we could.

2 of the 4 biggest crowds in Carlton’s history are them watching their mortal enemies unfurl a flag. Us in 2011 and Richmond in 2018.

Another one of their 4 biggest crowds is us shafting them out of a finals spot in 2022.
