Fixture 2024 fixture - first game away to GWS?

Watch the AFL give us 6 or 7 2023 finalists in the first 9 rounds, after giving Geelong exactly two 2022 finalists in the first 9 rounds of their premiership defence this year
I heard the AFL was going to do us a favour and schedule us to only play teams that finished below us in all 23 rounds.

The AFL are very kind to us. We were really gifted with the draw this year as we didn't have to play the best team in the league at all - amazingly, I'm hearing that the AFL are going to give us that privelege again.

Given the poor performance of teams after a bye, i dont like starting the year off that way. Dont have anything against playing GWS away in round 1. Good to get an away game out of the way early.

Although we will get a harder draw. We won 2010 and 2023 with the hardest draw, sometimes its good to be battle hardened and earn the minor premiership the hard way to help in the finals campaign

2010 we ended up playing the other three top four sides in 10 out of our 26 games.

Hope it’s a non-Vic team this time so we don’t get the same situation as last year where we didn’t play St Kilda in Melbourne at all.

What’s a good enough interstate side that we will play at AO?

Won’t be lions you wouldn’t think.
One of the WA sides?

They will try to maximise the crowds so I feel it’ll be a vic side. Just a matter of whom.

Whichever of the two WA sides we don’t play in Perth would be ideal from my point of view.

Got the feeling that we might end up with North Melbourne though.

We'll def play them again in melb. Gather ground generally isn't classified as anyone's home game.
Hopefully we dont play them in tassie lol
I wouldn't say definitely. We only played Saints once this year - in gather round. So no standard home and away fixture.

Jeez, do they really need the Pies to be fixtured on the last game of the round to sell tickets and for TV ratings.

We'll get a fair few of them. Broadcasters are trying to turn the Sunday late afternoon spot into a premium rating slot.

So far we know:
Round zero - official name TBD - v GWS
Round 1 v Swans
Round 2 v St kilda
Round 3 v Lions
Round 4 v Hawks
Bye?
Round 6 --
Round 7 v Essendon

Have to have the bye in Round 5 or 6 to enable us to play on Thursday for ANZAC Day.

Is it better to be in Round 5 after back to back interstate games or in Round 6 directly prior to ANZAC Day?

This competition is becoming more and more about money, TV rating and maximising crowds, we are at risk of being bigger than the AFL and paying big time for it!!!!
