If st Kilda supporters showed up to games, we wouldn’t play them in Geelong either.

Don’t really understand getting upset about it. Essendon play Geelong in Melbourne, st Kilda get a larger slice of the revenue from the AFL.
I don’t think that’s quite the point

What is the point? That essendon supporters are complaining about playing in Geelong? Why shouldn't they complain?
You think it’s fair enough to complain about having to play in Geelong for the third time in 33 years or whatever it is?

For fans to complain about it, sure. Why shouldn't they complain when something doesn't go their way?
Fair enough.

Your original post seemed to implying that Essendon shouldn’t be playing Geelong in Geelong, ever, because of the revenue Essendon creates from playing games in Melbourne. Which was quite obviously not the point of the original post about it.

The draw each year is supposed to present a degree of parity for all clubs. Geelong rightfully get home games at their home ground in Geelong, that one team has managed to avoid having to travel to that ground for so long, and still thinks it’s ridiculous that they finally have to, is absurd to me.

Fans can complain about whatever they like, and opposition fans have every right to point out when those complaints are ****ing idiotic. As is the case here.

Money always wins out. Geelong get to play some home games in Melbourne. They are going to want Essendon, Carlton and the Pies. Probably worth a couple of millions bucks to them every year.

It's probably Geelong requesting that though. Like we ever play Port in Melbourne. It's us asking to not play those games here.

Yep and this year essendon got called down the highway. If anything they should be thankful they have had to do it so infrequently.

Again, who ****ing cares, at some point essendons number was gonna be called, it happened. Their fans can bitch about it if they like and the rest of us can point out the absurd hypocrisy of that.

Not really comparable as we were always the "second tenant" regardless and never the draw as that ship sailed so very long ago and sunk to decay since. Great white hope meets reality as everyone loves cinderalla but she's never the bride.

You have agreements that x amount of games need to be at x grounds to warrant using X grounds, you then have other things like this ANZAC match needs to be between these two on this date at this place and many other agreements before you even consider a fixture.

The "problem" comes with those that straight rotate out of any discussion because Y, as it shoehorns anything further. Essentially; if the Dees can go to Darwin more than once in a decade than the Bombers can go to Geelong in a similar fashion.

MCG bias meets Marvel bias to shuffle grounds around.

I just like to think that we've played in multiple GF's, Dogs have saluted, Dees have saluted, Dons have barely featured in finals since the turn of the millennium. Correlation or coincidence?

People can justify it however they want, in my opinion it's laughable and actually outrageous that Essendon have played in Geelong only once since 1993. THIRTY-ONE YEARS FFS!

All Sydney players and mentioned in this thread - players who were not precociously talented at the outset, but through determination and steady work, went on to become stars.

All from Sydney. Damn. Can we get a bit of that culture, or is it just unreasonable to expect given Sydney’s unique situation?

Heeney doesn’t belong in that list. Prodigiously talented academy kid.

Kennedy shouldn’t really either, slid as a father son that developed late and Hawthorn trading him was insane to most who had seen much of him at the time.

Yeah
I mean they were/are Sydney players and despite where that came from, it was in the Sydney Football Club that they grew into legends.

You said they weren’t “precociously talented at the outset”.

In Heeneys case in particular that’s absolutely not accurate.

Yeah, I guess Heeney was just good at anything he wanted to do. Was gonna be a rugby player. But he wasn’t the best athlete and it has been in the Swans world that he really became the superstar he is. Key point being, Swans culture.

Latest Stephen May/ Dion Prestia NON-news shows a media desperate for anything.

Seems to be:
Dickheads picked a fight and it didn't end well for them. May and Prestia were there but not doing anything wrong.
And Ominously....May once had a fight with Campbell Brown , and ....they all came from the Gold Coast.

Did the ‘Scandals And Rumours’ board off the main board get removed and if yes why does anyone know? Can’t see it anywhere on the app.

Still there in sub listing.

They should be forced to make up for it by playing in Geelong every second week for 3 years.
