They really are pigs to deal with. If it’s not a straight 2nd rounder then seriously start talking to other teams or send to draft.
Essendon have plenty of picks from Melbourne, far more than needed to match Kako. Perhaps if they overpay for peatling , we can agree to live trade them 37 for a F3 after kako is bid on.

I just think we treat the Peatling deal as an independent transaction, the Stringer deal as a transaction and protect assets.

We need that pick in the 30’s, it’s a valuable pick and we may also need it for Smith.

Round 2 for Peatling is fair. The picks we have offered for Stringer are fair, he is not wanted by his club. Crows have already taken a required player and weakened us for next year, there should be some good will.

This doesn’t need to be complicated. If Crows want to be bandits then let them take their chances in draft. This is the BS of clubs not being able to trade players, it just weakens the weaker clubs further.

Shiel not happening unfortunately. Hasn't even been discussed between the two clubs, which is surprising.
do they know about my dream?

12:55PM - VETERAN DEE, WANTAWAY GIANTUPDATE

Melbourne list boss Tim Lamb has provided an update on the out-of-contract Adam Tomlinson, as the two-club defender continues his search for a new home. Out of contract after five seasons at the Demons, the 31-year-old has failed to lock down a spot in the starting 22 of Simon Goodwin’s side - stuck behind the likes of Steven May and Jake Lever. Asked for an update on Tomlinson’s status, Lamb was coy on what was next for both him and the club.

“We’ll just get through this period and see where the cards will fall, and then we’ll take a call on that,” Lamb told AFL Trade Radio on Tuesday afternoon. “If he can get an opportunity somewhere else, we’re really hopeful that can happen for him.”

Lamb also provided an update on the status of uncapped Giant Wade Derksen, who last month requested a trade to play under Simon Goodwin in 2025. “To be honest I think that’s looking fairly unlikely,” Lamb revealed. “We’ve thrown a fair few scenarios at the Giants, and they’ve been totally resolute. We’d like to bring Wade to the club, but again, I think the way things are tracking that’s going to be difficult for us to sort out.”

Dealing with Adelaide is always hard. They want players they value...but then don't want to pay any value to get them.
'in good faith' meaning....not that.
Such a shame we can't trade him elsewhere

I'd love us to be in James' ear telling him that Adelaide don't value him ... and there's time to come back to the fold!

I know it won't happen, but one can dream!
He sees dollar signs, fair enough but also, traitor.

After a player has nominated a club is it not possible to shop him out elsewhere? I'm assuming no-one else wants to pay the 600k/yr though
Should be grateful to play at any Club, be like the NBA and should be like a business where players get moved anywhere

Too much player power in the AFL, if the power was taken we could trade him elsewhere where the return would benefit us more not get screwed

He had 4-5 Clubs offering close to that but the fact he nominates Crows now we have to work with them.......

If we're in the Goose's dreamland then I'd rather move him on to the dogs w/h 21 for Bailey Smith, just to spite the Cats

Is anyone else concerned if no mature midfield depth is added to help out, when seriously challenging for a flag next year?

They made that mistake last year of thinking the current lists growth would be sufficient. I don't think stringer alone is enough, they need to thicken the soup in the midfield to seriously challenge next year imo. Even if it's just mature depth and back up. You also wanna keep pressure on the older guys like Kelly and Coniglio to perform to keep their place in the side, or allow them the occasional rest breaks throughout the year.

No. Assuming Stringer is in, he can do bursts in there. I think Binga plays more midfield. Law of averages suggests somebody will step up from the Leake, Rowston etc group and a fully fit Cogs is better than anybody who has left.

I've been posting about Matt Kennedy since our exit. While it's very unlikely, we need midfield depth especially a big bodied mid who can cover Tom Green.

You know for your username sake I hope you get Tauru.

Sounds like the perfect environment to bring in that noted statesman: Jake Stringer.

But seriously this reads like a nothing event that has been totally overblown.

Especially since it's been a month since the party, it can't be that big a deal if it took this long to be leaked right? I imagine if it was something major it would've been out well before now
