He showed great potential at the suns, but wasn't great. He was better by every measure at Hawthorn. Athletically he couldn't do some things he did previously but he still had speed and a leap in his first few years with us.

He was 3rd in PCM in 2019 and 2020 which he never did at Gold Coast.

He wasn't the player people thought he was headed to become, but he was never top 5 in the comp people just thought he would be. He still had kicking flaws that were being overlooked which are his main drawback. At Hawthorn he didn't struggle to win contests, get into space or get the ball, he didn't kick well and that held him back.
I'd like to know his Combine tests - Surely we wouldn't pay the world if he wasn't killing it prior to injury.

He was 3rd in his first year and 5th in his second year at the Suns. Finishing behind some very good players.

He wasn’t as quick off the mark with us which hindered him a lot. He could still get to a fairly quick speed but it’s those first few steps in congestion that set him apart early on.

He didn’t come close to the player he would have been.

It’s a credit to him that he was as good as he was for us but his knee injuries definitely limited him.

With 3 mill in our cap to spend big Rough better be wining and dining as we speak.
Due to us never finishing bottom or getting handouts like Gold Coast and North we HAVE to go hard at free agents. McCluggage is a must for mine, I don't want to be giving up the measly picks we do have trading for players.

Every Premiership team needs to build with free agents. Or if we get English as FA and then trade out 1 of Meek and Reeves for some more picks or a player.

Not arguing against this part, Just that people think he was better in his first 2 years. He still improved on his GC form but was a different type of player. Judd at Carlton is a similar thing, wasn't the same explosive player he was at West Coast but was still bloody good at Carlton.

I think Judds the best example. His stats were slightly better at Carlton but his ability to break out of packs and take the game on meant he was a better player at the eagles.

JOM just didn’t get those extra couple of years to really showcase his talent before his injuries.

We need an A grade midfielder, to support jai, dat and worps. That will allow cmac, frenchie, ward to go in with different combos. The 3 young ones just need time for body to mature and having that big bodied mid will allow them that time

Much prefer English to be coming. I would be offering English a contract he can’t refuse.
I wouldn't, English is a nice player to have but Gawn is one of the only ruckmen in the game worth big big money.

English is fine, but if you take out his meaningless back flank uncontested marks when he should be 50 meters up the line as longer option he does look as good. He gets a fair bit of junk and i think his impact does not match his stats.

TD if we do get Smith which can play outside but wants to play more inside would you try to get McCluggage also to play on the other wing to Amon or still go the Key position way.

I’d look at Berry also as an inside midfielder.
There's been murmurings of a McCluggage 7 year contract from Brisbane unannounced. If their saga blows up he could slip through but unlikely I would say.

Those 3, McKenzie and Ward especially are meant to be the A Grade mids, someone should tell them that.
