AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
This - the deal will already be done in principle. No use handwringing - the die has been cast.
Lord is one I'd be targeting.
Take out the future 2nd and it's a fair deal IMO. Eagles are fleecing us if what you proposed occurs.eaglevision you seemed pretty keen on Ned Reeves a couple of weeks ago and I know a lot of WC media have said pick 13 + F1 which has led a lot of WC fans to do the same but what about something like the below? I think we might've already discussed this and by memory you said you didn't hate it. With the Max Ramsden extension just being announced and Ivan Soldo rumoured to be wanting to head to the Saints (Ned's other suitor) maybe the below could end up being possibility.
HAW – Tom Barrass
WC – Pick 13, F2 + Ned Reeves
Have a look at Freo's team. Great midfield, very good backline with enough flexibility to have all matchups sorted. Good young key forwards (Treacy, Amiss) and 2 very good ruckman in Jackson and Darcy. They need a game breaking mid/forward to take that next step. Bolton is that player. They don't need more draft picks their list is quite young and lots of room for more development. They really should have played finals this year let's be honest and Bolton could be that player that takes them into a top 4 spot. There's enough talent on that list that it should be the expectation, they have underperformed 2 years in a row.A friend and I got into a pretty big argument about what Freo could give up for to get Bolton. I couldn't fathom the idea of him being worth two or three first rounders, but my friend had a point in as much as internally Freo view their list as only missing a piece or two to compete, therefor a high end glut of picks isn't as worth it for them if they are in a "win now" mindset.
I wonder if internally we are viewing ourselves as the same? If we're viewing ourselves in a similar light.
We have Ramma and that other guy we picked up from the academy who was already ahead of Tucker. You don't need 4-5 on your list you need at least 3. 2 capable at AFL level and 1 as depth. The club think Ramma isn't far away which is why they are entertaining the Reeves trade. Sydney have 2 rucks and it hasn't affected them.Hope the afl don't reneg on the new ruck rule anytime soon, getting rid of reeves would come back to bite us
Cats got 2nd round picks back for the both the 1st round picks.
In a complex deal, the Cats sent picks No.13, 15 and 20 and a future fourth-round selection to the Giants in exchange for Cameron, the Giants' future second-round selection and a future second-round selection tied to Essendon from the earlier Jye Caldwell deal.
So it was 13 and 2 pick slides for Cameron aged 26 I think. Cats know how to get trades done that sets up club for sustained finals appearance.
Yes, Cats didn't overpay for Cameron. They held their nerve and managed to get a good deal..we should do the same
It’s a discussion forum and Ramma getting an extension coupled with Reeves playing 2’s most of the year warrants that discussion, especially between posters who do not supposedly get information fed.Ahhh, pack your backs Noodles you are off to WA because Ramma has signed a 1 year extension.
I can only see this happening if the 2nd rounder coming back is 2024.Cash for picks? How Eagles, Hawks get the Barrass deal done
Cal Twomey takes a look at the deal for Tom Barrass to Hawthornwww.afl.com.au
Nothing earth shattering in here but Twomey has been really pushing the 1Rs and salary angle. Might indicate that Hawks are intending on going after another big FA next year.
I find this hard to believe when we don't have 1 player in the top 100 paid players in the comp. At this stage apparently only Day and Hardwick are being paid around the 850k mark.Cash for picks? How Eagles, Hawks get the Barrass deal done

Once we trade out our future first, we are unable to trade out anymore of the future picks. Which means that we can't trade out our future third unless we bring in another future first.Going too hard at it:
2024 pick 13 + 2025 1st + Reeves gets Barrass + 2024 pick 23
2024 pick 30 + Serong gets St Kilda pick 24
2024 picks 24, 67 + 2025 3rd round gets Suns 2024 pick 20
2024 draft haul:
Pick 20 = Whitlock #1
pick 23 = Whitlock #2
pick 74 = Bennetts upgrade
Cody Anderson rookie*
Ky Burgoyne rookie
*convinced he'll be a massive steal.
Wow. People want to give away a ruck with his prime years to come, for virtually nothing, even when he has two years to run on a contract.
Wake up.
Ramsden is nowhere near Reeves league as a back up. If we are to trade Reeves, it cannot be for a packet of chips.
Ramsden might be okay for 2-3 weeks as a stop gap at AFL level. Anything more and he would tire and be uncompetitive.
Personally, if Noodle is happy to stick around, we shouldn’t be pushing him out. No way.
Keeping your future picks is only something you do if your'e bring in a legit superstar. If at all possible we need to do everything to keep that flexibility even if it means sacrificing someone like Reeves.Once we trade out our future first, we are unable to trade out anymore of the future picks. Which means that we can't trade out our future third unless we bring in another future first.
Lloyd Meek was the same. Nothing but good wishes and some regret. The interesting thing about Barass and Battle - compared to when we've chased or landed other players - is the distinct lack of their current fans shitting on them.
I'm just not hearing anthing bad about Battle or Barrass except for Barrass' back injury.
Looking at some of the trade hypo's posted here that add Reeves to upgrade our pick 30 to pick in mid-20's, I would disagree with the bolded part. Lots here value him for pick in 40's and hence such trades.I don't think people want to give Noodle away at all. I think they are reading between the lines after the Ramma extension that Noodle himself may want to look at better options for his career.
Your last line sums it up perfectly really. If he wants to stay, he stays. If he gets an offer at a club that needs a Ruck 1, then it may be in his best interests to pursue that offer.
I think Darcy Fogarty is too?It makes sense if we have a RFA in the gun for 2025.
From a quick looking looks like Andy Brayshaw, LDU, Noah Balta are all RFAs
