It makes sense but as I said I just don't see the point in paying anything else to upgrade six spots barring the reason I stated earlier. It would be 'steak knives' because the picks will be traded by Lions/Dons before the bids come for Ashcroft and Kako.. But the difference between what someone might offer us whilst on the clock on night 2 at #27 vs. #33 could be significant.. given we expect Richmond will get offered future 1sts for #24..
Essentially i'm saying we should bundle #33 and F4/ later pick to get #27, then try to turn that into a late F1/ early F2 or just take a player we really really like..
Hope this makes sense
With all due respect why wouldn't the team who is giving up 27 just trade it out for F1 why would they do 33 and F4 from us? All teams know what each other are doing in terms of trades or slides and their picks. That is first thing a list manager does and all of those details should be finalised before draft night with different scenarios for different clubs so that you can make a move if you have to with the right club.It would be 'steak knives' because the picks will be traded by Lions/Dons before the bids come for Ashcroft and Kako.. Brisbane have #27 and need maximum points in this draft not future picks.. They'll trade #27 on the night for whatever can get them the most points in this draft to help match Ashcroft and Marshall bids..With all due respect why wouldn't the team who is giving up 27 just trade it out for F1 why would they do 33 and F4 from us? As for Cal saying to trade down or you saying trade 27 for a late F1 (who seriously would?) or a F2 - why would we consider it in a draft that's already being said wont be nearly as deep as this one.
Could be wrong but are the saints able to trade 32 back to the lions give they got it off them in trade period (funnily enough for #27).. Other watch is Freo moving up from #30because they need the points from 33. Cats can NOT trade their F1 for 27 as they can only give 45, not enough points.
I am hoping the list management team is switched on in such stuff and have people who can work with numbers and values quickly.
Once we have 27, the options open up.
Have gone thru other club picks, ourselves and saints are the only ones who can go for the Lions pick 27. if GWS does trade with Saints, they may be able to do so too.

6 spots up means 6 more players to choose from, so paying a F4 for that is easy peasy. and Asking for F1 with steak knives going back at 27 is more easier than at 33.
It is said to be a deep draft, so 27 has good value. Even if we get F2 and F3, they are still valuable to bundle uo next yr to take Suns 1st round picks. Teams will hoard F2's for bids under new rules and if we hold F3's they will all come in.
Isn't it true that Brisbane will only trade that pick if a bid for Ashcroft is going to be 4 or 5. They already have enough points this year for that case and will be wanting to get draft capital next year.Brisbane have #27 and need maximum points in this draft not future picks.. If we can trade an F4 for a pick in the late 50s I reckon that and #33 would be close to the most points Brisbane can collect for #27..
