If there was one area I felt we lacked in comparison to other contending clubs, it is x factor. Players that can do very exciting and occasionally low percentage things that bring the crowd into the game and lift teammates.

Ellliott, de Goey, Cameron, Petracca, Pickett, Papley, Greene types.

I think Durdin and Motlop have the potential to electrify but they aren't there yet. This adds to our ex factor stocks with an experienced player. It's a free shot basically. It allows us to potentially compete in this area next year, instead of waiting or spending a lot to bring in somebody.

I don't know that he played enough with Port to wash the Essendon stench off him. It was difficult to adjust to Glen Hawker and took a while to warm to Glenn Manton, but I embraced Justin Madden quite early.

I appreciate Port filtering out some of the toxins.

What a load of crap

I agree. I feel it's cynical and perhaps a biased contention. However, it is easy to quote and rebutt a bit more constructively. Can we try that in future?

Fantasia can give us that X factor we need up forward.
We have Charlie & McKay but we lack genuine X factor options. Motlop can become one but is young. Durdin possible but nowhere near proven.
For all the good work of Fogarty Cottrell Cuningham Owies did this year they don’t scare an opposition. Silvagni is a worker as is Martin
We need more players that worry a defence and Fantasia & Hollands add that

I hope now we add a genuine young gun mid via the draft. If we can upgrade our picks it wouldn’t surprise me to go to draft with one pick and leave a spot free for pre season

Whatever happens I love what Austin & Co are doing. Seems organised and well thought out
Austin is awesome. I havent been this happy with our recruitment since I joined BF in 2009.
Agree - need to develop another top tier mid. An insider with footskills would be nice.

Would love to see Durdin coming into the midfield, we need some more pacy midfielder, even if it's just on a rotation basis.

CDurdin still played 11 games last year.

So regardless, there will be opportunities for younger players to step up and fill the 27 games from Ed and Dow combined - and lock in as best 22 for 2024 :D
Yes I think hes looked good when he's played up the ground and his field kicking is also pretty good. Could be our Boomer Harvey.

Reading through the posts over the last few pages, it seems we're pretty confident that Orazio has chosen us.

Could someone please point me towards the original post that kicked things off? I'm keen to go read from the start of the conversation. Please and thank you.

What’s wrong with him?
Alex Mirkov (medical)
  • Entered an extended period of rest and recovery following the heart surgery he underwent in June
  • Focus late this year will be building his conditioning back up
  • His return to skills training will be assessed in the New Year, as his conditioning builds

So not LTI

I’m told he’s tracking well

Poor bastard, hasn't stepped foot into the club and the conspiracy theories, coaches pet and crap recruitment opinions have already started

I think is a bold, low cost option which addresses our needs
Absolute worst case scenario he spends the year in rehab and we pay him out like we did with LoB this season. People going crazy over a 2 year deal probably on no more $ than Cincotta or Cotters as if we've just signed him for a decade at a mil a year.

Adverse recruitment opinions are allowed though. You will never get 100% consensus on anything so just accept them as representative of society. It's a fringe selection and some won't see value in it. Such is life.
