How can you say that when he was running through our midfield in the back half of the year?
Because he isn’t a very good midfielder (or small forward).
Yes he can find the ball occasionally but he’s an AFL player - bare minimum he should be able to do that.

He is also slow & about the least penetrating kick you will see. We need improvement in the midfield, not “sort of serviceable”.
IMO he’s not the only “sort of serviceable” we have rotating thru there, hopefully EH comes in & shows to be a significant upgrade.

This is a good move because the downside is we didn't put time into a draftee, the upside is we improve our weakest position in the Best 22

I really don’t want to “pick on Fog” he’s handy depth & tries hard. But he’s depth at best, shouldn’t be anywhere near the 22 if we are going well.
Excited that EH comes in & provides more in the middle, speed, goals & can take a grab.
Fogs position IMO is one of the biggest areas for improvement & actually a pretty simple upgrade.

Apparently Orazio's injuries were misdiagnosed by Port's club doctor (I believe the same one involved in the concussion fiasco) causing them to persist longer than they should have. He eventually sought out a Canberra based specialist that identified and successfully treated the issue, reflected in him playing the last 8 games of the season in the Port Magpies.

He was not too happy with the club's medical/rehab program and pissed off at his non-selection in the finals. Tipping point was Port's failure to guarantee a position on the main list, even on a 1 year contract to prove his fitness.

He had attracted interest from Essendon and GWS, however has been convinced to wear the Navy Blue by the offer of two years (gets married next January so some financial guarantees were welcome), his friendship with Adam Saad, respect for Voss and confidence in Andrew Russell's high performance programme.

If his body holds up (and I trust the source 100%), we've snagged a bargain.

Had a chance to sheep on it………..

All I’m hearing is ‘IF’ or ‘COULD BE’ or ………..

Nup, still Yuk. I’m now at NFI WHY?
If it works means a premiership within two years.

Fantasiaaaaasa, what a name! Very left field selection but if this guy can get on the park, watch out. Does kick goals, can kick goals!
The same guy would have to have the skinniest legs in the Afl though.
O F is one of us now, goodluck to him,2024 cant come fast enough!
So misdiagnosed plus our fitness guy gives him a good chance of thriving.

Good news.

Same story the former players on FB are running with. Think it's reliable info.

The only thing I haven't seen is the * part but not surprising and is keeping with what they've been doing this draft/trade/FA window.

Someone’s found a whipping boy
No, not a whipping boy, Fog has always been a B grade player at best, got an amazing amount of “hype” from some this past season but has always been an avg player at best.
Should be an easy replacement & upgrade in the best 22. Fantasia & Hollands should have him covered very easily, which is great as it’s an upgrade.

Fantasia can give us that X factor we need up forward.
We have Charlie & McKay but we lack genuine X factor options. Motlop can become one but is young. Durdin possible but nowhere near proven.
For all the good work of Fogarty Cottrell Cuningham Owies did this year they don’t scare an opposition. Silvagni is a worker as is Martin
We need more players that worry a defence and Fantasia & Hollands add that

I hope now we add a genuine young gun mid via the draft. If we can upgrade our picks it wouldn’t surprise me to go to draft with one pick and leave a spot free for pre season

Whatever happens I love what Austin & Co are doing. Seems organised and well thought out
We now have quite a few options. If they can all get 18 to 25 goals a season, it'll put us in a very good spot.

Where any one of them might pop up for a 3-4 goal game but without relying on any one of them to kick a bag.

No, we want list moves that are guaranteed to work (pity it doesn’t work that way in real life) 😂
“Like” does run a close second thou.
It’s a cheap & smart play, fit & performing he’s a better proven footballer than our current smalls (JM not included) not a huge leap forward but definitely a good step.

Binns won’t be pushing out Hollands or Acres any time soon. Will be a good depth winger though. Wing is such an important spot in the game now.
Definitely see a bench spot for him in 2024. Think he gets a lot of seniors time rather than VFL

You are forgetting Corey Durdin who has had injury issues over the last two seasons. I would be very surprised if he is not pencilled in the likely best 22 going forward.

Fog certainly firmly in the mix, but his kicking lets him down. Durds kicking can be inconsistent, but is lethal and creative when “on” and can kick a goal from 50.

I really hope he gets midfield time in the magoos if he’s not playing 1’s, he’s better than Fogarty and I truly believe he just needs to get super fit to be a midfield option with pace that we seriously need

This very much feels like a “Voss” pick selection to me, good luck getting a game when he has a favorite competing for the spot.
There was a lot of talk about “selection integrity” thru the last season, this should be a doozy to watch play out.

IMO Fantasia at his best is an upgrade, you would think that with a good preseason & further development that Mots has the other spot (for now)

Given they are all very similar size & style it’s going to be a battle & a half for the spots.
If nothing else, we badly need a selection night conspiracy debate to replace the highly entertaining weekly Dow conversation.

Respect to Pommy but I think he's slightly off here.
List sizes are max 44 and not about to increase.
We currently have 34 + 8 = 42.
We can however take two draft selections and promote one more, to end up with 37 + 7.
Therefore no need to cut anyone.

We currently have (not including Orazio as not official as yet):-

32 Senior players
4 Category A Rookies
2 SSP Rookies
1 Category A International Rookie
1 Category B International Rookie
1 Category B Rookie
