Sounds like he’s served his purpose to some.

I don’t think this is what’s going on. A few trade speculation pages floated he was keen to get back to WA once a FA.

The fact he hasn’t signed yet, perpetuates that possibility.

We are talking about a player from WA - so Starc is being discussed as a hypothetical trade scenario IF he were to want to leave.

No one wants to lose Starc.

And I'm saying Allen won't head to the draft, he won't do West Coast dirty as their captain.
If that's his logic with his captaincy then he should re-sign. Walking out as captain is doing them a lot more dirty than heading into the draft thereafter.

I do think the conversation is mute, as I expect him to re-sign with the eagles at some point. However he can use free agency as leverage to get the best contract possible, most likely West Coast will be offering it anyways. If West Coast are prepared to match it and he’s happy to stay, it won’t get to the Free Agency period, it will be announced as a normal re-signing.

If it does come to a Free Agency request, he is out the door, West Coast matching ain’t going to change that fact. He would avoid this type of circus by just leveraging and signing earlier. I cant think of any cases where an uncontracted player has requested a trade, only to end up staying at the club.

There's such a thing as testing the market in free agency to discover what one is worth before recommitting.

My concern with Starce as I’ve said previously is the fact he only signed the one year extension last year (I mean who does that?).

Maybe he just wanted to see if he could bump his price up before his FA year, but I also distinctly remember his name popping up in rumours (yes that’s all they are) earlier in the year when the American trip popped up as well, so who knows maybe some relationships have been strained there too.

He’s also won his flag now so you couldn’t begrudge him taking what is likely a higher pay back home.

I think at this point without any inside knowledge whatsoever, that I’d be surprised, but extremely happy to see him stay.

Think it all came from just one page yeah? TheTradePreacher or some shit - same guy was saying this nonsense earlier in the year:

Reckon the hit rate of these pages might at best be 25%, and most of that is pure lucky guessing rather than having any genuine insight.

No point being concerned. If he opts to go home then so be it. He has been a loyal servant at our club and helped us win a flag. Shame to see him go if that is the case but we will be ok.

As good as Brandon Starcevich is he is like all players replaceable, eg. Ablett Jnr, Franklin.... the problem arises if you start losing multiple A-B grade players in a bunch over 2-3 seasons.

We will be fine.

A mute conversation is not much of a conversation

DARCY DOMINO SET TO FALL

Emerging star Sam Darcy shapes as being the likely first contract domino to fall for the Western Bulldogs as the club works on locking away three of its most important players beyond 2025.

The Herald Sun understands there have already been some early positive discussions surrounding a new deal for 21-year-old Darcy which could be finalised by Christmas.

His current deal runs out at the end of next year, and the forward-ruck could potentially become one of the competition’s best players during the course of his next contract.

He made it clear to this masthead he intends to recommit his future to the club where he is a third generation player, following on from his father Luke and his grandfather David.

“I leave that all to my manager, but I am really passionate about the club,” Darcy said.

“I can’t see there will be any problems with it (a new contract). I’m in no rush; we will see how it unfolds. But this club means so much to me. I’ve got a rich family history here.

“I grew up supporting this club and I’m very grateful to be living out my dreams playing here.”

I am sceptical of any "official links" to targets. Since Noble joined in to Daly/Ambrogio era our team is a vault. Very little gets out from our trading of drafting until it's done. I've met the team on numerous occasions and they give very very very little away.

Any links to us would come from the camp of the player joining us, or his family/friends, or the other club.

Agreed-I don’t recollect any BF background noise on Neale, Daniher or Dunkley until it became the real deal.

Im not sure he would want to come to us, but I just cant see how they keep all of Naughton, Darcy and JUH together on big money (let alone Bont and English). Even with salary cap increases you do wonder if they will get squeezed. Especially as they sit mid table - no real success but also not the biggest club deals for their players

Agent Dunks at work? Makes as much if not more sense than a few of the other names getting thrown around here.

Get him out of the big smoke and watch him flourish.

Would require a trade - don't think it's happening, would cost an arm and a leg.

If a trade is required, we'd be more likely to grab Mitch Lewis. Don't think that's happening either.

The longer this goes, Morris and Lloyd might fill out and settle into their roles.
We could answer the key forward prayers ourselves.
