Reckon Port will see it that way too …

North no doubt will turn every stone to get him if the nomination comes their way but I can't see them contending while houston is around to make any sense of it, for their own sake you would hope they miss out for another year or 2 on these big names. That’s what’s been mentioned in dispatches.
There comes a time when a club that’s been collecting draft picks at the bottom of the ladder has to make their move to improve.
Maybe North believes that time has come for them …
Very rare for a player not to nominate a preferred club, still expect that he will do so.Houston won’t nominate a club that can’t satisfy Port.
The only way we can satisfy Port is to overpay.
Would/should we be happy with that … I doubt Austin will …

This type of situation happens every year most deals eventually get done, let's see what plays out.
Most deals get done with some form of compromise both sides.
Totally agree about that feeling, but I will choose "worse" sadly.Have a feeling that Voss thinks that Houston, will be an amazing get for us. Knows him personally and has most likely been
conversing with him recently. Telling him that I will convince Austin, that you are worth it. Being a very close mate of JSOS
as well, be a bit surprised if he does not land with us. For better, or worse?
Yep. I agree.Totally agree about that feeling, but I will choose "worse" sadly.
That pick/those picks, can be used more prudently on, say, Leek Aleer if he became available, or another punt in this draft.
sameI want GCS’ picks. Not at all interested in Houston at this point.
If we could get picks 12 and 20 from them for our pick 31, F1 and something else, I’m doing that deal.
kpd we need and speedI’m not convinced that Houston is even what we need, certainly not at a high cost.

I'm betting he's holding off on nominations until he knows where he sits with us. I suspect he does want to come here but he needs to give Austin some time to see what he can do, otherwise he'd be mad not to take a 'godfather offer' elsewhere. If Houston nominates Carlton without the knowledge that we are prepared to meet Ports demands in trade, he better be prepared to be disappointed as was Papley and Gibbs the first time of asking.
Managers are very loath to take that route these days …
Port might need to get Houston’s salary off the books to accommodate those who are coming in…..Port won’t be trading their contracted dual AA for anything other than overs.
They simply don’t have too.
North are willing to accommodate this … I doubt Carlton are of the same mindset …
I can't see North offering up a future 1st for Houston, without wanting Port's future 1st in return
That in itself could be a dangerous move for Port
This is going to be an interesting watch
SOS was happy for Gibbs to remain at the Blues if Adelaide didn’t cough up.Houston is only coming back to Melbourne if Port are agreeable.
As Silvagni made young Reid pay overs for a contracted Gibbs, Port are well entitled to do the same for a contracted Houston.
North are reportedly willing to offer him more money and Port overs in trade.
Dan would understand that if he wants to return to Melbourne, barring Austin overpaying, he nominates North and pockets the cash …
Precisely, if North offer their future first Port would take it and run for the hills.
Can’t see it being anything but a top 5 pick

Did he report what North want in returnCal Twomey reporting this morning on the AFL website that North have their future first rounder on the table for Houston …

Might not quite get the overs they would prefer…..

Are Port exactly of the same mindset with Houston? What are the overs North are offering and are they significant? The chance to play with Voss and finals might appeal to Houston, who knows?
All speculation at this stage.
So if its that easy"its North or you can remain at Alberton" why are Port furious at Carlton then?Houston is on a contract negotiated before he became a dual AA.
Probably a major reason why he wants to return to Melbourne with a shiny new contract.
Port will be moving Soldo’s contract which probably wouldn’t be far removed from Houston’s existing “unders” contract.
Port will get overs as North are this morning reported to have their FF on the table.
Port holding a long term contract for Dan are well within their rights to tell him it’s North or you can remain at Alberton …

Vossy & JSOS would only buy so much good will.
So if its that easy"its North or you can remain at Alberton" why are Port furious at Carlton then?
Port would be saying screw you CFC and laugh in our face and say we'll just deal with North?
I think its pretty easy to read between the lines that Dan's preference is the Blues.
