Pittonet is the worst ruckman in the comp. Someone tell me what he offers the side??

Pittonet is a backup. When TDK is fit, Pittonet is playing reserves. If Marshall from St Kilda got injured they’d have to play Campbell who’s comfortably worse than Pittonet. How good was old mate Straughnie at the Crows? Some teams don’t even have a proper back up genuine ruckman.

Pittonet, if he’s at the club next year, should only play if TDK is injured, and he’s straight back to the 2s when TDK is available. SOS being available again will mean he and Harry can give TDK a rest in games so there should be no reason ever to play Pitto and TDK in the same team.

If Kemp or McGovern are our CHB next season or we get Haynes. Whichever. Say Wright is a 4th rounder, cheap as...

Which is better?

B: Weitering
HB: McKay
C: Cripps
HF: Wright
F: Curnow

or

B: Weitering
HB: Kemp or MCGovern or Haynes
C: Cripps
HF: McKay
F: Curnow

It's a tricky one. I've seen lesser forward lines of both win flags. I think we are a bit scared because we know how weak our small/medium forward are.
McKay in defense makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, if you’re looking at repositioning a player, Wright who has the physical traits to possibly be a key defender might be worth trialing in defense to see if he could live up to his overall potential like Lobb has behind the ball…

I’d like to see one of O’Keefe Lemmey or Silvagni moved to defence supporting McGovern Cowan Weitering Young Newman plus Haynes as our mid size to taller defenders. As I have said I would look at Grainger-Barrass as a cheap option

Then up forward we have McKay Charlie Kemp TDK (and 2 of O’Keefe Silvagni Lemmey) as our taller forwards. Moir as well
I’d look at Wright or Ladhams as cheap recruits as depth options that can play Ruck/KPD

IMO our list then has good balance around KP/Ruck and we can then focus on runners

Nothing against him or those suggesting it at all but I just don't see it with JSOS as a KPD.
I'm likely blanking to some degree but I struggle to think of a favourable matchup for him.

Of our forwards, a fit & mobile Charlie probably has the skillset that translates the best to a role behind the ball but it's a robbing Peter to pay Paul type scenario so I'd give it a miss.

Sorry Mate you are an expression of why Carlton and its supporters have a loser mentality. SoS left 4 years & in November 5 drafts ago. Why is your question looking into the rear vision mirror? Austin, Lloyd, asst coaches have not performed. The Sayers review was a failure. Positive thinking would point to change required, not yesterday's SoS debate
Sorry Mate, but what a load of crap. You do realise if SOS hadn't ****ed up so many high end draft picks, they'd now be at an age where they're reaching their peak? He couldn't even assemble a midfield so we had to go out and buy Cez and George!! Brought in plenty of injury prones players for a bargain though....except for Gov, who cost us a fortune.

But, yeah, knock yourself out pinning it all on Austin.

How do you rationalise your total non blame of Voss please?

The game plan is his, yet you somehow accord blame to his assistants (whom he no doubt had significant influence in their appointments) but they not on record so your judgement of them is spurious.

The coach surely has a significant input into recruiting and his game style would dictate this.

pitto was drafted by sos at that time before his exit. Can't put that one on austin

Yet we had Darcy Cameron all but sealed up before Collingwood swooped. Love to know what happened there, but wouldn't be surprised if it was his stubborn approach that he took with every trade where it fell over.

Pitto was apparently the second option. We now know why.

As the little Mexican girl from the Old El Paso ad would say…”why not blame both?”

Lewis Melican is exactly the type we need - low-cost, defensively very sound and most importantly knows his limitations. Sydney won't let him go ofc but that's the type I'd be looking for

Just my opinion Soap…

I see Jsos as having the ability to play behind the ball, great footy smarts, what i think he would provide better besides Weitering is the natural reading of defending and spoiling of the ball as well as an interception mark, before he got injured he looked like he had just taking his game up to another level, i was one who really liked him playing the 2nd ruck position even if he couldn’t win in the tap outs he was similar to TDK as another tall onballer who gave us another advantage amongst the contested ground contests..

I suggested earlier in the season that I’d like to see Lemmey given a role in defense, there’s been a clear observation from a number of us on here that the kid lacks the aggressive nature within his game that he requires so a shift behinds the ball may help him become more focused and accountable, in a struggling side it seemed that he wasn’t able to cope with the role, the past 6 weeks he has definitely improved back in him more natural forward role…

O’Keefe he seems to be a good young moving natural ruckman, love his aggressive nature, hunts the contest, needs to improve his marking particularly contested, looks good when resting forward an okay kick for goal, not sure he has the overall craft to play as a KPD, maybe resting on the opposition resting ruck, good young player hopefully his hamstrings aren’t an issue going forward…

Grainier-Barrass is a bust, only at best a third tall who been played forward by the Hawks, my brother is a hawks supporter we watch and talk a bit of footy across our teams, if he was any good he’d be playing firsts, not good enough unfortunately 👍

If he was any good they wouldn't be chasing both Battle and Tom Barrass

I keep looking at how Hawks have rebuilt their list quickly.

Chol D’Ambrosio Ginnivan Newcombe Dear combined added to some good picks etc

None of these players were established stars elsewhere but have improved the team and themselves

It’s good drafting, trading combined with good coaching. I feel we are okay but not great in all these areas. If we can improve 10% in these areas we will be fine. I just feel this off season is Massive for the next decade of this once great club
Thoughts on Odriscol from Freo? Came on as the sub today, straight in the guts, looked to have some pace. Looked good.
Same as Peatling, love what the Gawks have done, we just need to really pick a player or two that fixes a need.

Sometimes a change of club can revitalise a player.
Sometimes they need to be delisted and to work their way back through the VFL if they really want to be an AFL player
